Whoever runs this page and does the articles is starting to annoy me, nearly every other thing they've done has just been them bragging about how they had the news first before it was reported elsewhere

****ing get over yourselves, just report what happening....simple

 

I was thinking about starting a thread saying exactly the same thing earlier.
Attempting to score points with this "I told you so" nonsense is unbelievably childish and pathetic. It reads as though they're more bothered about bigging themselves up and looking down upon their mere mortal rivals (newsflash, SSN are doing a bit better than you!) than actually reporting the news.

And for this story in particular, well, they didn't even necessarily have a source to begin with! It's a simple process of putting two and two together, we all mentioned it as soon as Bruce took over - it could just be a blind report that happened to take off.

Take myself for example, when I was 14, early in our promotion season, I completely and utterly bullshitted and said that there was talk of Craig ***an returning to us on loan. It actually happened and everyone was oh so impressed. If a 14-year-old can randomly put two and two together and (very luckily) come out with 4, I'm sure City Independent can!

Having said all of that, it would be frustrating to have all of your headlines stolen by bigger papers when you reported it first, but they're going on about it the complete wrong way, making themselves look even smaller than they already are in the process.

For anyone who hasn't yet seen it, the latest article is titled "Look who is linked with City!" and then goes on to say:"Interesting to see the local and national press have picked up on an insight City Independent were given many moons ago"
and: "but the interest in former team mate Fraizer Campbell has not waned, a story we covered a couple of months ago on our website at the time of Steve Bruce's appointment."

I'm sure if you report on all rumours one of them will come off so they will be the first to have the 'we told you so'. As mentioned they don't print 'sorry we misled you in......rumour'

 

its just the same thing that print media have done and still do taday .
They whack a caption called WORLD EXCLUSIVE on almost any story printed.
Ive no real problem that citizen journalism is catching on to the idea that you promote you got there first - even if its by a coin toss or whatever

 

i am with you. the future is citizen journalism and we wont realise this till the Hull Daily Mail goes twice weekly, and the 'local' radio and tv station starts to report on current affairs from a region acknowledged as 'local' by its listeners and viewers. At present our non-commercial media just does whatever it decides is in the public interest, whe what it actually means is that it is in the interests of the organisation and the local NUJ.

 

Some people really need to lighten up and see things for what they are.

CI don't do pretentious, but they manage to take the piss out of it well enough.

 

Twitter is the new source for many so called exclusives - or at least what would in the past be considered an exclusive.
Taking celebrities and even sports stars as examples , these days they are eager to publish their secrets and inner thoughts for free to thousands of unknown followers .
Only a few years ago a footballer would need a real arm twisting from Jimmy Hill to tell us anything at all .

For me fair play to free media , its less likely to have an agenda and depends on accuracy for its own credibility (unlike the HDM for example)

 

To be fair to CI, and I was one of the ones taking the piss a few months ago on here and their forums, they've pretty much stopped doing it after a fair slating from all and sundry.

 

I also find their style of writing rather condescending, which does irritate me also.

 

I was gang raped on City Independent and as a result I am now unable to bear children.

They should be ashamed.

 

Is this why Dave Burns is pushing the James Chester thing with Steve Bruce i wonder ?

Hmmmmm, a bit like pot calling kettle grimy arse.

 

That's not the same at all though - they don't constantly keep coming back to the point that they were the ones who printed it first every single paragraph.

 

Have to admit its starting to annoy me, especially when they just take random punts all the time, its like me saying now Ronaldo will leave Madrid, four years down the line he leaves and i take the credit for it...

 

J-D , they do though mate , red tops will reprint a picture of the back page of a guess they came out with 6 weeks previous complete with "we told you so " caption .

They go further and report on how the other papers got it wrong . It makes their glands tingle

 

Some one (who i won't mention,for fear of growing his already enlarged head) on C.I. regularly says "If you don't like it,don't read it.. "

Sound advice.

 

I think CI is frequently amusing, and the 'exclusives' are tongue in cheek.

However, I think there's only about 4 people that use it, with multiple accounts, talking to themselves.

 

What's CI?

 

Oh and you're adding in irony too? The forums are a cesspit, the news is a joke, the advice to not read it is very very sensible.
