id leave this one alone.. we have a good enough squad to see us through till january. then depending where we are maybe the allams will give bruce the funds to get us over the line.
With Aluko and Simpson looking very impressive against Bolton and Fryatt and Proschwitz in the squad we look set for now. King wants to find a club where he can play and we might not look like the best choice right now. In January if we could get him on the cheap might be worth a bid if the others are not working out.
Why ? With Fryatt out injured thats madness. I love the way Josh King says he will give it upto Xmas. SAF may not give him to the end of September if he does not shut up. Take King on loan(once SAF gives the green light) with a view to a full january transfer would be my ideal situation. It may also wake Stewart up from his slumbers.
Yes as Burnley can take points off our rivals. I see Burnley doing nothing more than mid-table this season. Jay Rodriquez is a big miss for Burnley.
As Tickler says, having players out on loan if you don't need them can be beneficial. They can take more points off all the other teams, but not us. I remember a couple of seasons ago Man Utd had players out on loan to 4 or 5 different PL clubs and it meant that effectively, 1 in 4 of their games was against a team that were weakened by not being able to play one of their key players against his parent club.
Agree with you there - what sort of ultimatum can Josh King really issue when he's behind Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck? Madness and actually pretty arrogant. Only league goals really matter, and he has none. I don't really understand why you've felt the need to say "get a life" there either, it doesn't even make any sense in this context. As for his work rate... myself amongst other posters have probably repeated this point well over 15,000 times since McLean joined but work rate only gets you so far, you need to be a good footballer too. League One standard at best. Oh, before anyone mentions - for example - his trickery at Doncaster as a counter-argument... how many times has he actually done anything close to as good as that in 65 appearances?
I wouldnt waste any effort in getting King. Elmo has shown in one game more threat and attacking potential. That means head up and picking a pass out. On Mclean I'm happy for him to stay as he is a bit part player. If his contract is up this season then get rid at Xmas if we can get anything for him. Bruce knows the type of players he wants, has more contacts in the game and more pulling power than any of our last 4 managers. FACT
I have to agree with what you say, the only question mark I have is that Egyptian player seem to start well to impress, but then their performances tail off, Zaki comes to mind. I just hope that doesn't happen with Elmo, as he does look a good player.
He scored 3 in 23 playing up front with Fryatt in his first season with us. I can understand that people like him and that he works hard and that he can be handy in some games, but he lacks quality on the ball and finds it hard to score at this level.
.. Yes and he is great for team spirit. Every team needs a grafter and Mclean does make a good impact sub. Now that its back to 7 subs I would keep him and offer a new deal to him. Correct. I must say that this type of attitude wont do him much long term good either. Better players than King have suffered by saying alot less @ MU.
King would be a decent acquisition up front but I think Bruce could attract better if The Allams sanctioned a loan deal for another striker. I would think we would have to offload a couple on loan first though
