Not sure what you mean. - FM12 had Saints in the Championship, once promoted you were able to sign good players. - FM13 has Saints in the Premier League from the start.
Yeah, but once promoted to the premier league their reputation was still not good enough to attract players like him, and the budget wasn't anywhere near as much as what they have actually spent. If by some quirk you were able to get a good player interested they would demand unrealistic wages. Have these things been fixed?
The interface looks very nice, and the "unlockables" are a nice touch. Training looks completely different as well, so maybe I'll actually dabble in it this time. I also like the sound of those challenges, but I bet they're extremely difficult!
Well if you edited the FM12 data for Gaston to be unhappy at his current club and listed by request, then I bet you could get him for Saints. But yeah I do think it'd be more realistic if players would at least listen to your offer before dismissing it, because it's a bit annoying that often a player with a high reputation won't even allow you to make a contract offer.
How was I supposed to know in the summer of 2011 as a newly promoted League One club, that Saints would spend £30m in the summer of 2012 having been on the back of successive promotions? I doubt anyone here would have predicted that.
Was unsure about last year's but it won me round. Like the look of this one and as always will purchase. RLGB your comment is pretty daft when FIFA is just as, if not more similar to its predecessors.
But was he unhappy before his club started playing hard ball with the club he had agreed to join? And was he actually transfer listed? And would he demand affordable wages in the game? Anyway, not really about him specifically, this applies to any 'marquee' signing you would like to make in the game. Firstly they're not interested, and if they are willing to listen to offers their wage demands are ridiculous. I appreciate that lots of good players would be unlikely to come to saints but there are lots, like Ramirez, who would jump at the chance. Well Cortese had made a lot of noise about having money to spend and saying things like "we will never be relegated while I'm in charge", I think it was fair to assume he would spend some money, but I guess you're discouraged from overestimating. Point about players not being attracted to newly promoted premier league clubs is still unanswered, though maybe not under your purview I suppose.
I was able to sign players like Krul, Belhanda and Coates after a season, so you just need to do your homework and maybe be a little brave. Also pay attention to who is offered to you by agents and such, that's how I got Coates. That was with an uneditted DB too.
I agree, I think that contract offers are a little too simplistic. In reality, clubs like Anzhi and Shanghai are pulling off deals that would just not be possible in the game. I understand that if Leyton Orient came calling for a player like Ramirez, he'd probably laugh if off, but if they came calling with a £100k p/w offer, then in reality he might just hear them out. You could go on the editor and give Orient billions for transfers and salary, but they still wouldn't be able to even enter contract negotiations with higher reputation players, which I think is a bit of a flaw.
Yeah, that must be what happened in real life. Fair point! But then perhaps a bit of weirdness in the game is required.
Don't be surprised when you see that Saints have quite a small transfer budget for the summer 2012 transfer window. As we spent £30m in real life, most of the budget has likely already been used up. This is a general policy across the research for all clubs.
I liked the challenge of getting to the Premier League from lower leagues, and then establishing your team as a top team. I did that within two seasons on the last game, so I just feel as though ye challenge has gone. I'll probably buy it around Christmas like I've done with the last two.
That's fair. Oh, also, can we have an academy that actually produces premier league standard players this time? It's surprisingly rare to get an actually useful player come through the ranks considering our real life academy's track record.
Saints in FM12 had one of the best academies in England and produced numerous Premier League quality players whenever I played as them.
Well you must have been lucky then because I got a couple of good ones in maybe the first intake and then loads of rubbish every other year. Getting a player who at 17 is good enough to start (and perform well) in the PL is absolutely unheard of. Sorry if I'm coming across as hypercritical by the way, I acknowledge that this is not all under your control.
How good are our current youngsters on this one? I could never get Ward-Prowse and Shaw into my first team on FM12.
Not many clubs had better than this in FM12... Training ground: Staplewood Training Facilities: Top Training Facilities Youth Facilities: State of the Art Youth Facilities Junior Coaching: Good junior coaching Youth Recruitment: Well established youth recruitment Not alot more I can do.
