If you were on the ropes financially and signing a paper would release £50 million into your bank account would you piss around or would it have been signed weeks back? I don't buy into the financial problem rumours in the slightest. Ball is in Bates court he is in the driving seat and sadly it will be a case of being his way or no way.
What scares me about this is that I doubt that Bates is personally "on the ropes" financially, but perhaps the club is. Whatever is going on, if Bates is holding out it can only be for the benefit of one person - Bates.
If the club is it will only be because Bates is spending too much and bleeding too much out of us, he would not be stupid enough to allow us to go under because it would dry up his cash flow that he takes from us and he would lose that £50m pot of gold. He leaves just enough in to allow us to plod along in no man's land while he enjoys the rest. YES we could say plough £5m-£10m in and get us to the promised land and it will make you very rich Mr Bates - 1) That isn't guaranteed 2) Maybe at his age he considers himself rich enough, maybe he is bleeding £5m a year out of us, I certainly could live on that very happily. The signs are that WHATEVER the sum is that he is taking out of us to fund his own lifestyle, it is enough to make him in no rush to sell.
Morning all I agree that if there are any financial problems it is likely to be something related to the club and not Bates personally. I guess we'll just have another day of waiting for news to come out from this meeting. I hope we get some information that is official, no matter how small. Even some sort of confirmation that there is still a chance from an official capacity would be nice!
Oh no! just read that Norman Hunter has told the press that Tom Lees is destined for great things. The last time he did something like that, he was on the radio commentating a Leeds match and said "Eeee this Aarun Lennon reminds me of Eddie Gray in his youth" LS11 was foooooking swarming weeks after with Prem scouts.....Spurs 1mil on the cheap. So behave Norm, and go and play more golf up at your Horsforth Golf Club, better still "shut thi trap"
I think today's T.O malarkey is yet another red herring. I say this because there is not a sniff of it in any if the newspapers or even on the romour mills. Nothing .
Peter Lorimer is........................... Oh and Doc, I don't believe a flipping word of that, but keep posting this stuff, someone has to keep our spirits up
I think its just the Lawyers meeting from both sides. Maybe something can be agreed but without Bates there to sign we wont move on. So hopefully we will make a step in the right direction today if nothing else!
I'm sure BenJacobs tweeted that it's only lawyers meeting (can't fing the bloody tweet though). Also, Jacobs responded to the question Have they told you what the hold up is from leeds' side or there side as u sed movement from both parties is needed? with ... @andyleeds1985 issues over ER, possibly indemnity and a few other things. Interesting. We were all led to believe it was only the indemnity issue that was the hold up.
