8 Weeks back we were imagining who we would sign for a few quid, Beckford, Mills, Craig M Smith, Boyd, Templeton, Maynard the list goes on - Once again reality hits home and it is the loan market we are looking at - Forget the expensive flair and creative loan signings, Warnock has shown the intentions of what type of player he is looking at and what we can afford with the failed attempt of 35 year old Derry...

I don't think Derry would've been a bad loan signing. He is of a decent quality and still has the legs, if warnock liked the look of Brown and Austin playing together in the middle then Derry could've just been an improvement on Brown. Personally I really don't think that it is the type of player we should be looking at but I don't have a serious problem with the quality

Loan window opens tonight, so lets guess 5 players each that Neil will target and see if anyone gets it right.

    Ben Watson (Wigan)
    Michael Johnson (Manchester City)
    DJ Campbell (QPR)
    Danny Higginbotham (Stoke)
    Michael Tonge (Stoke)

The thing about this speculation, OP, is that we'd never get it right. You may well have named his top 5, we'll never know. We'll only get people prepared to accept 30 quid a week. They'd probably scrape into NM's top 500, at best.

I would not offer to cover all of his wages, but I would give him a last chance with no risk to Leeds.

Watson and Higgingbotham would be good additions. The rest are garbage so we may get them LOL

I'd take all of them tbh. I don't think Johnson will ever get back to the heights he hit pre-injury, but he was showing a hell of a lot of potential at the time. If we got him on loan without paying a penny towards his wages I'd be happy to at least give him one last chance. Watson and Campbell have proven themselves at this level as far as I'm concerned, while if Tonge can get to anything near the level he reached under Warnock at Sheff Utd he'd be a welcome addition. Higginbotham would at least provide some depth and cover in defence, where we seem to have virtually none...

Problem is, 3 of the names you've mentioned are CM. I think we need at least one on loan because of the injuries, but I think a pacy wide player/forward is by far the bigger priority. We have no game changers on the bench if Diouf starts.

SWP would be a great pacy winger but I doubt we can afford him.

Think it'll be a case of looking into under 21 players in the premier league and taking one or two on loan. Would've taken Sterling at the start of the season, but it sounds as though he's forced his way into the Liverpool team now

What about Jimmy Kébé from Reading, Garath McCleary has claimed the right wing at Reading and he might be available for a few games to prove he is match fit again?

Robson Kanu is the most likely to be allowed out on loan on paper, but Kebe has been injured so he might be out on loan for a month or so? I would prefer it if we signed loan players for the season rather than just a month. It'll take a few weeks to get settled and know the players and the system, and by the time they do, the month is up. I'm sure we'll find someone, but we definitely need some sort of option from the bench. When Somma comes back at least we'll have a goalscorer on the bench...providing he comes back as good as he was

In the emergency loan market in think Xmas will be the longest we will get anyone for, although this could be extended if their parent club allowed.

I think we need to speed up our own developments and get Dominic Poleon, Simon Lenighan, Charlie Clamp & Monty Gimpel out on loan.
Come Christmas we can aim to get some of these blooded into the first team.

Emergency loans are 93 days. So would be till mid december yes. And half a season on loan in L2 or below will not make them ready for championship football
