Had another read-through of the Taarabt thread with a view to deleting disrespectful posts and reopening the marmite debate. Verdict: impossible task. Reason: deleting the obvious Queenslander / Finglas sideshow, there are other bits and pieces that could be adjudged also personal / disrespectful which some might argue otherwise - and I ain't got all night tonight. Differences of Opinion Have ask some of you if you've ever heard of agreeing to differ? The thing is, there seems to be a need in some of us to batter the next person into submission as regards who's right and who's wrong. Why do we need to do this? It's completely moronic. It's one thing to put a case for something or someone, but most things in life are neither black nor white. It's more likely shades of gray with grains of truth in each opinion put, e.g. Taarabt's BOTH a flawed genius who we ALL hope meets his potential with us, AND at times a complete let down). If Northolt, for example, says thick hoops and I say thin hoops: 1. Do we have to battle it out until we share the same view? ANSWER: No. We're only swapping opinions, not morphing into siamese twins. 2. Is it likely that if I call him a muppet, he will change his mind? ANSWER: No. It'll actually have the reverse effect. 3. Does it really matter what either of us think? ANSWER: No. It only matters what Lotto think. 4. What's the point of posting our opinions then? ANSWER: No idea about you but I come to trade my opinion with you lot which often broadens my own opinion. Swords I see he's back in the mix in this thread again asking what he did wrong on that thread. Answer. Nothing much on that particular occasion but that's ignoring his growing rep as a troll. He's been banned three times recently and all by different mods. The charge is hijacking threads that start out being one thing and end up being about him and his provocative views. Not an accusation but a fact as evidenced by the bans and by the people leaving having had enough of getting mauled by him. Another one PM'd me a couple of days ago naming Swords as their only reason. If Swords has half as much respect for fellow posters as he makes out when in apologetic mode, he really needs to smell the coffee and depersonalise his counter opinions - or move on before a permanent ip ban kicks in. There was a time not so long ago when I got no PMs about Swords. Then his audacity was considered mildly amusing. These days the jokes gone sour and PMs are all too regular and the trolling has to stop. Queenslander It's clear the guy has some personal issues atm. He's very apologetic and will be taking a day or two out to think things over. Whilst entertainingly edgy in style, QLD is usually respectful of both posters and our rules. When he returns, I ask that we accept his apology and move on.
Weve all gone off on one at one time or another which isnt a problem. Its a problem when every single thread gets derailed by the usual suspects with a smattering of personal insults thrown in. Ive probably had more disagreements with Queenslander than anyone else on our old board but we always did it on good terms.
This board is about opinions and we all have them. If we all agreed with each other it would be boring, the thread in question produced some excellent posts from both sides of opinion and is a perfect example of why we all come on here. We're all here with one common reason and lots of differing perspectives of it...
I dont bet. Theyvr been milking the retro kits for a decade and have no imagination, everything is a template.
Have we? Whilst nobody is a complete paragon of virtue, there are many of us on here that refrain from using aggressive, insulting and personal language. It is one thing giving it large with colourful language about team performance and people in the public eye, but it should require little to engage in respectful dialogue on here. I don't know about anybody else, but I quite like to learn something and have the odd chortle, not exchange in unnecessary and tedious insults. All the unpleasant and needlessly offensive posts sadly devalue the contribution of the poster in question. Come on guys, show us that you're all better than that.
Just read that Umbro are stopping kit deals which is why England and Man City have gone to nike. They wont be paying anyone to wear their stuff so it wouldnt be a customer deal.
