No chance, far too articulate. Baz isn't. So, before disembarking to the Stevie G thread my sauce thoughts; I used to love tinned spagetti with Worcester sauce and grated cheese on toast. ****ing lush. Brown sauce is for bacon butties only. Nothing else. Even then, if I make two bacon butties I'll only put the sauce in one. Bit anal like that. I think ketchup is for kids to be honest. I use it to cook, as a sweetener in chilli for instance, but don't go near it otherwise. I prefer a bit of hotness in a sauce that's red. Encona for example.
I can't eat a steak without ketchup.. Also homecooked chips.. Chips have to have ketchup.. Though chippy chips do not require it.
For steak I make peppercorn sauce. Definited home made chips but no sweet red gloopy ****e in sight. Steak must be rare, anything else is sacrilige.
Agreed rare steak is the only way.. I asked for a blue steak at a restaurant a while back and they said no.. Don't mind peppercorn sauce just prefer ketchup..
Hate peppercorn myself, always have a stilton sauce, chips and a fried tomato. Few onion rings if I feel like 'em. Oh, and rare of course! So rare in fact that a good vet could bring it back to life.
Quite like a stilton sauce I must say but that's if I have a steak out. At home I love a pepper one, got a bag of green peppercorns in the cupboard that only get used for it. And a bottle of tesco value brandy. (that gets used to drink if I have nowt else. Obviously) ****ing hell, I could eat it now. I honestly don't see how ketchup goes with steak. It just doesn't fit, it goes with fish fingers and smiley faces and the other rubbish I steal off my kids plates.
Yeah not a fan of ketchup on steak either, I'll have it in a little ramkin dish or something beside my plate for my chips but that's it. Always go for fillet too, expensive but if you're gonna go for a steak then go the whole hog!
Daft as it sounds that might not have been too bad. Ketchup being so sweet. You could probably use it as a sauce for ice cream instead of raspberry. Steak in order of niceness for me; ribeye, rump, fillet, bavatte, sirloin. Wouldn't say no to any though.
No sauce with steak for me - I refuse to let anything pollute the flavour of good meat. Also a rare man. Had a rare steak in Brazil when I visited and it was the nicest thing I have ever tasted. I had the ****s for two days afterwards but it was completely worth it
Got to love the French with their steaks my wife sent one back saying it wasn't cooked enough and could they cook it a little longer. The waiter came back to tell us the chef refused.
Think it should be banned to cook a steak more than medium rare.. As to favourite cut, I do like a good quality rump myself.. I think the fat in a steak is key for a tasty meat. Which is why i am not a fan of fillet steak as its quite bland really. I would like to have a go at doing a massive sirloin of beef for sunday roast.. my mate lives in the back of beyond near a farm and the farmer is always giving him meat..
