I wasn't going to bother 'cause I'm about to head out for lunch but it was too good an opportunity to miss!
I call Crass "real punk" because: they set up their own record label from which all profits were ploughed back in to put out records by less well known bands they kept their prices as low as possible and put "Pay No More Than £X" on their record sleeves to try to prevent shops charging more they set up a venue to host gigs and also provide facilities for recording, printing, etc they were highly political from the lyrics of the songs to the text on the record covers and booklets they promoted causes such as CND, anti-fascism and animal rights DIY for the people.
It was proven that the CND were funded and supported by the Russians. CND was a ridiculous notion dreamt up by leftie tree hugging ****ters and lesbians to put this country at enormous peril. No wonder they died a death.
I don't neccessarily agree with all or indeed anything Crass said but the point was that whereas the Pistols sang about anarchy and the Clash about rioting, all they were really interested in was lining their pockets. Crass were entirely serious about the politics and not at all driven by making money.
I agree with you. The sex Pistols were a manufactured band flying in the face of what punk was meant to be about. A commercialise rip off band staged by Mclaren. The Pistols were in no way fitted into punk ideology.
Tell me you're no a fan of Sting, Dev? The Police are bad enough but that **** should be dumped in middle of the rain forest and left to the mercy of the animals.
