When we went 1-0 down. the horror show flashed past my eyes. Just three points off a relegation place, and dropping like a stone. A lifetime of flops all came flooding back.

It was just getting worse and worse - we'd picked up two more injuries at that point. Bardsley was particularly worrying - they took him away in an ambulance.

And then Asamoah got a nick. Right then I'd have settled for that. A few minutes later, Asamoah pulled up with a hamstring - and I'd have given the whole world for a draw. For god's sake, DO NOT LOSE. Just don't!

And then the local lad, who'd looked so good, and then looked every bit as bad a few months later, hit that rarest of things - goal!!!!!!

And then Sess, who I thought looked up for it today, stepped up to a pen and calmly sent the goalie the wrong way. Oh, you little beauty.

I think we're safe now. If things stay as they are today, we're seven points clear of relegation (eight, given our decent advantage in goal difference). And time is running out for the pack.

Now we can look forward. I think we need to part company with Steve Bruce - the lad's brought us a step forward, but he can't adapt to blips. The next step is with someone else. And we need a poacher. We miss Darren Bent very badly, and need someone with goals in him.

I would like to see Angeleri, Riveros and Muntari given their chance now (in their proper positions). We can afford it, and I wonder if we can afford not to. Spurning international players without giving them a chance is pure nonsense.

Relief. Phew! I feel so-o-o much better tonight.

Some ideas there cutey, what will steve do about the forward line, we have an Argie international he must have some nonce, We know Riveros can play, can Nobel step up to the plate, Sess had his best game yet, Jordan finally woke up, it was like watching sleeping beauty before today, much better performance, had to be as Brucies balls were due for the mincer.

Sleeping beauty... I thought it was more like watching Forrest Green Rovers playing against Premier League teams.

    Great result.

I thought Muntari made the difference when he came on, we were passing the ball aimlessly till he got on then bag!!! 2 fantastic match winning passes, clearly unfit but showed great presence.

Just couldn't understand why he never joined in with the celebrations????

We need to keep hold of Steve Bruce, if we get rid of him now we will be starting again with someone else. The injuries are not his fault, to be honest they are probably a result of the players giving 110% earlier in the season. A manager needs time, Rome was not built in a day and as long as we finish in the top 10 (which I think we will) we are making progress.

I don't know where Henderson has been, but the real Henderson showed up for the last 30 minutes today.

I have read a lot of people talking rubbish about injuries and the training regime etc... We have been unlucky with injuries and dispite what anyone says they are not Steve Bruce's fault and he has done the best with what he has had.

Next season we do need to sign Welbeck and maybe 2 more centre forwards. We need a LB and/or a LW. The signs from Colbeck were good today, I thought he had a good game. I agree with the OP Riveros and Angeleri should be given a chance, I for one have not seen Riveros do too much wrong, he has not set the world alight but he has not been terrible either, potentially a good player in my book. Angeleri on the other hand has looked poor everytime I have seen him play in red and white which to be fair is not very often.

I think we need to get rid of 3 or 4 players, sign 3 or 4 players and keep the 3 of the original loan players: Elmo, Welbeck and Onouha.

I love Mensha but he is never fit for long enough, the jury is out on Muntari, I think he would be excellent at left midfield with Ricco playing LB overlapping.

I think you mean 'nouse' my good man, not having 'nonce' is a good thing <ok>

All i'm going to say is thank **** for that!

And Jordan, fair play lad the passion in your celebrations was so honest and genuine, but now that i've seen you take 2 goals superbly, i expect to see it a wee bit more.

Pressure off now, aim for another 7-8 points, a top 10 finish, but still a season that's brought more questions than answers.

    WE ARE SUNDERLAND!!!

No i meant it as a word play on Ponce, which is how he played against Notts County having said that there wasnt much skill for our lot anywhere on the park that day.

Precisely my point - how do you know? This fella has been called up into one of the world's finest international squads by TWO successive coaches, he's had a grand total of 70 minutes football for Sunderland, and Sunderland fans can just write him off with complete authority! I'm sorry, but that doesn't add up. I want to see these three lads get a two or three match run (in their proper positions) - we've not much to lose now - and THEN make a decision.

Did anyone see him against Notts County, he was out of his depth, had tunnel vision, couldnt effectively defend, pushed off the ball and he just isnt good enough.

That should be the aim, we have two winnable home games and Bolton and West ham away. 3 wins would get us 50 points and probably 8th in the league. Then we can all reflect on what might have been. I don't think we will see the best of Sess until next season. Fro me he has flattered to decieve thus far but it's early days, most of our midfielders you can only see getting better next year.

O.k., agreed. Let's sell all eleven players that played that day. It was, as you say, a shocking performance - get rid of them.

we have made a start getting rid of reid da silva and bent!

Honestly, i dont think angeleri will play again, after his racist outburst and the fact that bruce doesnt think he is good enough will probably contribute too that

I think you're maybe right - I'm not sure Angeleri will play again either. But I don't think it's right, do you? Buying an international player and judging him on 70 minutes is nuts. We've nothing to lose now, and I just think it would be better for SAFC if we took a look at him.

My mates uncle used to scout for the club, hes at Wolves now (on footie man the lot) and from what i was told, Bruce wasnt impressed with him from the start, give him a chance to prove himself and he hasnt impressed him in training, reserve matches ect.

I'm not sure about that. Is 70 minutes in a whole season what Bruce calls 'giving him a chance'? In any case, Angeleri looked a class act in the reserve game away at M/borough. If Bruce wasn't impressed with him from the start, then let's get that tosser Bruce out for signing him in the first place. What sort of scouting is that?

I dont see Sbragia at the club anymore...
Fact is, everyone thought he was going to be quality, he just doesnt have the physicality to be able to play in the prem, if he gets a chance, im sure this will be seen.

I'm not sure this will be seen. So how about we give him a couple of games, and find out who sees what? If Bruce has signed ****, sack Bruce. If the lad turns out good, sack Bruce anyway for wasteing him.
