The Sun newspaper has just made a serious enemy in the Rangers support. The smear tactics of a certain Sellik minded journalist in allowing this rabid bigot to spew out his hate, will not be forgotten. Remaining silent has got us where we are, those days are finished. If we keep on running, the enemy will keep on chasing. We would rather not have to boycott and complain, but if the haters keep up their sectarian campaign, we will fight back.

I haven’t read the piece in the Sun but from what I can make out it seems to be yet another bigoted unchallenged slight on Rangers and at least a quarter of the Scottish population. How these people are allowed to get away with it is beyond me. If we were a minority race/religion there would be protest marches up and down the UK. We have shy’d away from these attacks for far too long and allowed society to believe it is perfectly acceptable. I have already spoken to the press complaints commission about the religious bigotry claim he made about Charles Green. It’s time to stand up for ourselves and put a stop to the abusive generalisation of our people. The only problem I foresee is the doo-gooders who insist it doesn’t happen to us and we are paranoid, even though the evidence is there they do not like to see themselves as the victim.



And my personal favourite:

this so called journalist is a failed social worker who fled to eire to escape justice after a man died in his “care”, we should not be giving oxygen to this ****ebag but we ‘ve been silent for too long, he is a bigot, where is his take on the child abuse that is prevalent among his kind, not quite so outspoken about that!, the s-n will never be bought by me and neither should any gers supporter even contemplate buying it, show them that they have made an error of massive proportions, watch there readership drop, the s-n is quite willing to give the taigs anything, but , give us the same , no no no. we have to sit back and watch this bile ferment in our protestant country, if this scumbag is so brave come along to GOVAN today and he’ll get a good welcome, ira taig bastard that he is, spread the word DON’T by the s-n.

Firstly, I apologise for the emoticons - I actually feel exhausted reading that.

Mis-information and wilful mis-interpretation are dangerous bedfellows.

This guy, like Leggo when folk took him seriously, is proper dangerous - yet I'm sure if you coloured his shoelaces one green and one blue, he would convince himself that the green one had an unfathomable bigoted mindset whilst the blue one was some sort of paragon of virtue.

I'm actually struggling to decide whether this is the funniest or the most worrying thing I've ever heard.

I'm reading The God Delusion just now and in one chapter, Dawkins takes Aquinas five proofs to pieces fairly easily yet people believed them as a logical conclusion and justification at one point.

Unfortunately McMurdo is seen as some sort of sage amongst sections of the Rangers support, he and Chris Graham are seen as moderate and enlightened, when in fact, their none-too-subtle bigotry is always simmering just below the surface.

I personally think McMurdo is far more dangerous and offensive than Leggat. Leggat is a pitiful character who is so deluded and mentally incompetent that it is impossible to take him seriously, (perhaps the reason that so few Bears do?) but McMurdo’s insidious hatred makes me feel dirty just reading it.

Try reading some of the comments - which as far as I can see are totally unmoderated - this is a mixed blessing, but at least we have an insight into the minds of the ******s who take this one seriously.

 

This is the sort of ***** who laps up McMurdo's nonsense:

Let them boycott us , infact if they could get there club to refuse there lot of tickets then we will fill our stadium for our team! We don’t need you nor do we really want you in our ground!

As for the Celtic fans , I have a catholic wife , my children will be catholic and I am Protestant for the main reason of that in our area the catholic schools are far superior, which should not be , they should not even be allowed RC schools as we are a Protestant country made up with mainly Protestants and protestants tax payers.

I too have many RC , Celtic supporting friends but when it comes to football they are not my friend, they love there club as I do mine and they would love to destroy us without any remorse or consideration to how I feel about that, there mate. All I can do is ensure football does not come between us and come Saturday they stay out my way and I there’s for even though there’s a great friendship which has been built over twenty+ years they would enjoy my pain if the Gera died as I would likely if the shoe was on the other foot.

I have stood by these friends in thick and thin , I have stood by there side through fights, arguments and even got into some bad situations due to certain RC friends! Wee have loads in common but sadly they and me will never attend a game together due to the hate that has manifested itself amongst the Celtic fans and vice versa, my point being that at the end of the day no matter how friendly you think you are they would still love to see us fail without bothering about how you feel, that doesn’t make them bad people but IMO it does create division amongst us!

The Aquinas/Dawkins comparison still stands.

A lack of logic dressed up as logic (however many lies it takes to justify) is far, far more dangerous than directionless anger without academic backing.

I'm not suggesting McMurdo is an academic by any means (Jesus, no) but I worry if someone reads this and comes to the same conclusions - to a Celtic supporter to myself it seems nothing short of insanity (I can lump supporters of any team except Rangers into that).

One can only hope that posterity can remain reasonably un-touched by history re-writers,

If I wasn't from this country, though, I might not have the a propriori evidence to discount this pish - someone in another thread mentioned that guy Murray's books about the old firm.

Ever wondered where the "Celtic were set up to keep taigs out of proddie soup kitchens" myth sprang up?

Right there - he includes loads of supposition about Brother Walfrid without any actual quotes or reference points.

The "Morton supporting Protestant" as he recently put it, also writes for The Rangers Standard.

However, Murray's books about Rangers and Celtic are now regularly quoted as if they are unimpeachable historical fact - he was particularly scathing about Rangers in the first one - his subsequent books contained some utter, utter pish about Celtic and our fans and founders - the danger here, like I say, is that people take the sections about Celtic's formation as fact and run with it.

The danger in a blinkered person or outsider reading McMurdo is that they may have no experience of how tinted some people's views on the rivalry in Glasgow really are.

Are Celtic-mindedness and Sellick-mindedness the same thing?

I mean, to have written an entire blog without so much as a nod to the fact your team cheated for close to 10 years - and AFTER the CL debacle about Marseille - is pretty stupefying.

Even worse are his claims about how upstanding they are! McCoist has ALREADY come out publicly and said, even if they get found guilty of cheating, that no one is taking their titles off them.

To use one bullshit occasion that's unproven, based on Minty Moonbeams and his dignity, to support your entire blog is completely moronic. As Eric's said on another blog, UEFA still show Marseille as winners. Imagine using a completely hypothetical incident about a CL final you never reached to base your entire argument on.

I find it insane to write such posturing blogs about other teams, and their supposed faults, when it's common sporting knowledge and acceptance that if any team is hated, known worldwide for bigotry and hate, and of having some of the least desirable members of society in their support, it's The World's Most Successful Diddy Team.

It's fannies like this that will always keep Glasgow and Scotland years behind everyone else religiously.
