2020, any reason why we'd sell Lees in the forseeable future, leaving aside any silly money bids? Before replying, please don't bother with any anti Bates cr%p. He'll be gone sometime soon. So let's work on the here & now with the next transfer window not until January, by which time he may have gone & we can really move forward.
Depends who is in charge at ER... Same regime then it will be a contract saga rumbling on with 12 months to go and getting peanuts. Fingers crossed it will be new owners who extend his contract and a player who achieves greatness and becomes an ER legend.
I know he signed a new one recently, I have a vague feeling it was a 3 year one and seem to remember thinking why 3 years when Nunez got a 4.... Could be wrong and certainly hope it is nearer to 5
Don't know who I must have been thinking of as I thought the new contract was signed under Grayson - Forgot it was extended under NW http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20110930/defender-signs-new-united-contract_2247585_2467904 Looks like he signed one to 2015 then extended it again http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20120522/defender-poised-to-agree-new-deal_2247585_2780178 New contract extended to 2016 with an option for a further year..
Great news, happy for him. A couple of good internationals under his belt can only help his confidence and development for us
Well, bogger me with a fish fork, that does not leave me with much to say does it? I will try really really hard not to. It was just a joke, one of my sour, ironic comments - not to be taken literally, even with the current leadership he's probably not that high up the list of potential outs (well, not unless someone else wants to pay over the asking price, of course ). The only serious point is every time we have someone we could conceivably see as being a long term bet as a core team member for the long term (which is the way the first Leeds United team I watched grew, by the way) we seem to get rid, with a pile of spi,n at the first opportunity to cash in... damn, I think I just did what you told me not to do.... sorry
I know what you mean 2020, under the current regime that great Leeds team would have been broken up before it had even got started. Instead of Allan Clarke up front we'd have ended up with Rod Belfitt, and instead of Giles and Bremner running the midfield we'd have had Terry Yorath and Mick Bates instead!
Well done Tom! No way will he be leaving anytime soon. Hopefully he gets some game time for the u21s, and keeps improving.
with fans swallowing the spin and saying greedy Bremner wanted out despite Bates offering him a very generous deal, not fit to wear the shirt, blah blah
Hard to believe, unless you know something the rest of us don't. And if Bates doesn't go, 2020's post was quite the opposite of crap. It was black humour rooted deeply in reality.
Seen much of Tom Lees? I think he's worthy of a recall at this stage and its a huge pat on the back for all the work he put in last season in a very suspect defence. I hope we see the best out of him in a settled Warnock back four but he has potential, he's brave and chips in with a good goals to game ratio for a centre back. Hes often played out of position as well as he can cover right back. I'd like to see him coached to play the ball out from the back a bit more rather than the favoured long ball and I hope he gets the taste of the England set up and wants to prove himself with us this season. Cant be a bad thing for Lee's having Kisnorbo about either. He even chipped in with the managerial duties when Redders took charge
