According to the Daily Telegraph, we are trying to get rid of him and are even willing to let him for free. The Russian transfer window closes on Thursday, but as of yet, there is not serious interest in him. We have still included him in our CL squad, though. I think, we should keep him because he is another attacking option and he still has the talent and skill to help us out. I would try him in the role Cazorla has been playing and see how he does. Arshavin had a good link up with Fabregas and I think him and Cazorla can do the same. For me, it's keep.

I don't see the point in keeping him, yes, he may be another good attacking option on the wing, but will he ever be deployed? Our wing options are pretty full with Podolski, Gervino, Walcott, and Oxo, so when will Arshavin ever realistically feature other than a possible Carling Cup game? He's getting a good salary as well, so there's no point in spending that much money on a player who's not going to be playing a lot. The guy wasn't even on the bench on Liverpool, and we still didn't look short on attacking options, so I don't think we need him at all. Off load him ASAP, and use the money it frees up on wages on a new CM.
I agree. I think he could still have a role to play. If we get any injuries to our creative players, then he could come in and do a job. I don't see the point in selling him for a pittance or giving him away, simply to get rid and save some wages.
For him to play, would require OXO, Gervino, and Walcott or Podolski to be injured, basically three attacking wingers would have to be out, I don't think we will get THAT unlucky. We lose Gervino for a month again because of the ACN, but we'd still have 3 attacking wingers, and if it got bad, we could put Cazorla on the wing.
Yes we lose Gervinho but we might also loose Walcott if he doesnt Sign a new contact. That leaves us with just Oxo & Podoloski and im sure by January we would have had some more injuries. I saw keep him unless a good offer comes in. Cant belive Zenit are being so tight with this potential Transfer then sign up Hulk for 50Mil & that useless Witsel for 40Mil.
Rosicky, Diaby, Wilshere and even Ramsey all deserve a shot in the central attacking role over him. If he'd put in good performances or worked hard, he may warrant a choice in where he plays. Whenever he comes on he gives the ball away, doesn't track back and generally looks knackered after only playing twenty minutes. I've lost patience with him now to be honest. Plus he's a very expensive person to keep on the bench. EDIT: We also seem to be playing more of a team game now that RVP has gone. The closing down and defensive responsibilities of the midfield have far improved. Can we really afford to carry someone as lazy as Arshavin?
I'm inclined to agree. There really is an atmosphere around the club of this season being a fresh start with a new defensive approach, exciting new attacking players and much more of a solid, hard working team ethic. Arshavin is symbolic of a past where something was not quite right. I say move him on and embrace the future!!!
Keep - he is the only player we have apart from cazorla and arguably jack that can play that number 10 role. the reason he is lazy now is because we play him out wide, he is not a winger. play him behind the striker and hed be one of the best players in the league. he would be excellent coming off the bench.
I'd keep him because 1. I can't help but love the guy since he almost came on the pitch with a bobble hat - before Wenger took it off and 2. If Walcott leaves in Jan. hes a good sub
I say keep him. Unless he's taking up a valuable squad spot, which I doubt. He provides good cover in case of injuries as well. Oh, and good morning everyone!
One needs to be a really lazy jouro to repeat this "Lazy Arshavin" cliche. But he played as a sub against Sunderland and he looked much much better than Walcott, he was on the same wave with Cazorla. Arshavin needs to reinvent himself as a supersub for Arsenal this season. To play for 20-15 minutes and give it all. Then he can be very useful.
He is a quality player who lost his way a bit - he became unfit, lost his starting place and seemed to have given up on playing for us. If he refinds his motivation to play for us and we find a way to utilise his skill-set properly then he still has a place at the club. The assist for one of Henrys goals last season in extra time was superb - far better than any of our oher wingers are able to produce. Possibly his place is as a super sub - covering central or wide positions. Or maybe he should be used in games against teams who just park the bus, ones where our wingers are spending most of the game by the opposition box.
