It's been on the cards for some time that Cerny would get a role within the club sooner rather than later. He's a credit to his profession and a thouroughly enjoyable person. Re our forwards I don't see the problem. Hoilett played up front for Blackburn last season alongside Yakubu and did very well. Mackie is also a forward, and maybe the most composed finisher we have at the club (and that is including Cisse who's the most clinical imo). There is even options with both Taarbs and SWP that can play off or behind the front man. As I said no problem, Hughes got it sorted.
We are the new Barcelona! Likely Helguson would have been good for another season as cover for Zamora.
Not much really. With Mackie and composed it's got to do with his calmness when the chance presents itself, take his goals agains swansea (a), Liverpool (h) and City (a), imo he showed great composure when he scored. When I say that Cisse is clinical my point is that he's more ruthless. He has the ability to put away more difficult chances. It's more instinctive with Cisse, never hesitates and uses more power, giving the keeper less of a chance. Not sure that clarified much
It will be pure genius playing Hoilett up front on his own. They could play in goal too, it doesnt mean they will be any good.
It was incredibly stupid selling him, he was fantastic cover and would be been in the squad every game if fit. A really, really stupid mistake by Hughes.
But maybe he wouldn't be that much fit again, he is getting on a bit and he's well over your own age limit! I just heard he's pulled out of Iceland's squad against Norway Friday, due what: Injury. The categorisation of "strikers" on the Official is a bit arbitrary -Mackie, Hoillet, SWP, and Adel can all play there.
. . lower the target! Use different targets like space. We don't have to play with a big target man, a lot of the top teams with top midfields don't, but they are nice to have, especially when you are not sure you can play through defenses. Perhaps MH thinks we will be good enough not to need one.
