First, despite the sarcastic title, I think ACON is a great idea. It's just it's frequency, timing and organization that leave a lot to be desired. The final (two legged) qualifying round is played on 8 September and 12-14 October. Our interest: MALI v Botswana. Assume Diakite is not involved at present, but sure he will be if they get through. Cape Verde v CAMEROON. M'bia is listed as squad member. Mozambique v MOROCCO. I guess Adel is in the squad. Ivory Coast v SENEGAL. I don't think Traore is in the squad. Winners go through to the finals in South Africa between 19 January and 10 February. Assuming they join their squads at least two weeks before, the games they will miss are: Spuds H, W. Ham A, Citeh H, Norwich H and Swans A. Possibly also Chelsea away on New Years Day.
Jack Rebney, goes with the signature. YouTube him/ Winnebago Man. It's therapy. Should add the way they do qualifying for ACON is excellent. Instead of these endless groups like the WC and Euros they play a mini cup competition to get the final 15 teams ( host gets a bye). And teams that qualified for the last tournament get byes so they only have to play one two leg play off to qualify for the next. Simple, fast, should help get quality finals.
****ing hell, an old post remembered........almost makes life worthwhile. Boring without DTs perspective, isn't it? Still, good move zoning out in France for a bit.
It sure is. It was somewhat worrying however, you seemingly being on the same wavelength as patient 666, Ward 7. I do hope you're not in the middle of some kind of breakdown, Winnebago style.
I think that's just this time because they've only had a year to do the qualification, or was that the last but one set was different because it doubled up as the World Cup qualifiers? No it's every 2 years. Up until this year it was played in even years. From next year onwards they've switched it to odd years so that they don't have it in a World Cup year. They obviously had the choice of having it 2 years running or having a 3 year gap, and decided to have the extra tournament.
