I've got it. It's alright. Bit far fetched. Quite a lot of, how can I put it lightly? "Artistic licence" Enjoyable though
13mins for Danny Dyer surrounded by kids who apparently hate Leeds Hall starts at 13mins and is amongst the most embarrassing video ive seen about Hall (apart from the rough girl screaming outside jacksons bakery for bread )
Well worth buying. Well-written, accurate, full of amusing anecdotes by people who were there. Much better than most books about Hull City because it is written be people who have followed the club through thick and thin, good times and bad. Much better than most 'terrace culture' books as it portrays life through the eyes of youths growing up in Hull from the 1960s to 2000, with a fair dose of dry humour and with many different perspectives. Money well-spent.
I've read it. Tordoff's book is more a social history of generations from Hull rather than the usual terrace 'we chased everyone' type books. Worth a read if you enjoy reading about things you can relate to, even if your recollection differs. Tordoff gets others that were there to put there stories forward and as some will be from 40 years ago, I reckon even people stood next to each other would now produce a different version of events. I've no idea where the Danny Dyer clip is supposed to fit given the title of the thread.
Really good book, not the usual we ran everyone we were the biggest and best mob in the country bollucks
The "Hull Mob" around Danny dyer in that are all about 12 hahaha!!! Good bit in the book about the Car in boothferry car park, wont go into too much
Good book , take it from me they missed so much out from the Monte Carlo days and could have wrote a book just about the end of the 60's to around 1973 / 74 .. I use to spend my days in Monte Carlo and King Arthurs got my head shaved at barbers opposite tower and was one of the very first skinheads in Hull.. A pair of army boots from army and navy store for a quid there use to be a mini mountain of boots in the shop and was a case of find a pair that fit .. Great Jukebox in Monte Carlo , first time I hears ska, and Trojan.. It wasn't just about Footy though it was a big part of it... ****ing good days for sure . Those to young missed out ..never got into all the city Casual **** .. And yes I still shave my head , Docs not army Boots now , can't understand why I never. See anyone else in docs at city .. Judge Dread sang were have all the skinheads gone ! , o I did see Monty or it looked like him the fat twat, in a crombie ... Course going back in time we would just get lobbed out of the ground if anyone did anything. . Would be 3 years and a life time ban now ...
Artistic licence? How do you make that out? I was there throughout the 80s and early 90s and remember most of these games well, and believe me they are acurately retold, I also know the lads that contributed to the book, none of them need to bullshit, they just told it how they recall it. Personnally I think its a great book and well worth a read, though I might be biased.
Because I asked someone who was in some of the photos and even he said there was a fair amount of bollocks in the book.
