I've already stated that getting zero points would not be a massive surprise or a disappointment - I'm just being fairly optimistic, pointswise - why not? We're a better team on our night than folk give us credit for.

I did not know that - there you go.

We would need one of the Benfica-Spartak games to be a draw for that though, wouldn't we?

We would also need Barca to get bawdeep intae Spartak and Benfica

    BEST CASE SCENARIOUS:

Nil points from Barca. 1 if we are lucky (at home).
4 points from Spartak. I think Celtic will get a draw away from home. 3rd place challengers.
3 points from Benefica. Maybe a sneaky 1 away from home but I think they are the team challenging for second.

Based on my predictions it's either 7, 8 or 9 points!

It all depends on whose fit and on form for Celtic when they play. Vital that Ambroses settles in quickly (and proves to be the player Lennon believes he is), keeping Matthews, Mulgrew, Wanyama, Ledley, Commons, Forrest and Hooper fit and the new Strikers being goal scorers.

I think Celtic need to keep it tight at CP.. I'd take 1-0 everytime! Can't see it.

Worse case... we'll get 1 win and two draws! Home win/draw, Pumped by Barca twice and and an away point! 5 max.

I'd love to see Celtic through but, realistically, it's probably Europa League at best!

Anything more than 0 is more than I expect.

7 would be us punching well above our weight at the minute. If I was offered 3rd spot right now I'd take it.

I also expect at least one mauling. A horrific hammering that I will moan like **** about. Probably overreact.

I must remember that all of this, the good and the bad, will serve the squad well.

Post #11 has everyone's predictions on it and I'm updating them - Pud and Rebel - I can't really place you lot in it as you're both being pussies about it and not naming a number and putting your boaby where your mouth is.

    Geez points forecasts <grr>

Spartak are a good side, realistically we'd be lucky to get anything out of them, but you never know with our home record!!

Benfica are always decent but have just sold two of their better players so will be our best chance of picking up points.

I predict 1 point from barca game at home, one point from spartak away, one pont benfica away and three points benfica home.

So 6 points and hopefully europa league

Thusfar, we have three votes for 4 pts, one vote for 5 pts, two votes for 7 points and two votes for 8 pts.

The most popular option is 4 points, however, my box-plot analysis (which I can't post<grr>) shows that the probability within the forecasts lies between the first and third quartiles.

    To summarise.

The mean is just under 6 pts
    The median is 6 pts
    The mode is 4 points

However, the probability looks like between 4 and 8 points (which, curiously is the entire range)<ok>

Statistically speaking, we're more likely to forecast the extremes of the data set<whistle>

EDIT: I need to re-do this to include Brum now...except, he's picked the median which also evens out the mean <diva>

By the way are the fixtures confirmed yet in terms of when we are playing each side and etc??

That could have an impact on the group too

The dates were on my tickets - I'd need to google in work but in order, it's:

    Benfica Home
    Spartak Away
    Barca Away
    Barca Home
    Benfica Away
    Spartak Home

You're an utter prick - if there's any mair of your ****e, I'll count you as an outlying integer in excess of three sigmas from the mean ya **** <grr>

So, if we don't ignore Venom (and, for future analysis, I ****ing might<grr>), the results are now

    Mean: 7.1
    Median: 6.5
    Mode: 4

The difference between the upper and lower quartiles is now 8-4
