Benson's article about Ferrari searching for a team-mate for Alonso just got bumped. Interesting point is that apparently Vettel is definitely expected to join Ferrari in 2014, even though it's not known whether he has a contract or just a letter of intent.

Ferrari therefore want only someone on a one-year deal if they are going to be getting Vettel for 2014, and if they're looking for a stopgap, Mika Salo retired a while back... de la Rosa looks like a more and more sensible option by the day!

Not sure how this really affects the driver market, if as suspected Vettle is due to take the seat in 2014. No driver is going to take the 1 year deal, certainly not a top line driver. For me its Schuey that will dictate what happens and is probably the key factor in Lewis's decession.

 

If one of the Force India drivers have signed for another team, it's not Ferrari - they still haven't made a decision on Massa yet. So it would be Mercedes (which would make sense), but I don't think they would want to replace Schumacher. Why would they sign Rosberg to multi-year deal but replace the man who imo is driving better than Rosberg?

If they did replace Schumacher, I don't think Ferrari would want him - would he be any better than Massa? Also would he really want to end his career getting thrashed by Alonso? I reckon that particular scenario exists only in the head of Tony Dodgins.

 

Does this have anything to do with the Mclaren seat?

 

This could get interesting when it all starts falling in to place, Let the driver tetris begin.

 

Imagine Shumacher playing second fiddle to Alonso. I can't comprehend how much **** would hit the fan if it happened.

 

As a Hammy fan, I'm hoping he signs a long term contract with McLaren, but I can't help but think his moving may trigger a driver shuffle in a few places that might be tasty.

 

Here's something very interesting. One of the commenters on the James Allen blog asked about Alguersuari in the Lotus cockpit for Monza. James' reply: "Lotus have had a good look at him in the 2010 car which Pirelli test with, so they know him from that.

As for 2013 I believe he will be there, but with whom? You’ll have to wait and see, I cannot violate confidences like that, I’m afraid."

 

I cant see Grosjean or Raikkonen leaving Lotus. They have a good project going on there. Algae I think is signed for Caterham as replacement or team mate to kovi

 

Kimi returning to McLaren to face Jenson would be a good benchmark to see if that Lotus is as good as we and the media actually think it is.

 

On the surface, I can't either but Eric moves in mysterious ways.

 

James wasn't talking about Alguersuari going to Lotus, but entertaining the possibility of replacing Grosjean this weekend. But the last part makes me almost certain that he'll be on the grid next year.

I have a feeling Alguersuari may end up at Force India, replacing Hulkenberg or Di Resta, whichever one replaces Schumacher at mercedes (i think he's retiring).
