Well that makes more sense, than the pre-edited "Govan became part of Govan" - and I'm the thicko? Anyway, I'm off out today but, from the interweb. Partick was a Police burgh from 1852 until 1912 when it was incorporated into the city. In 1864, Govan gained burgh status, and was Scotland's fifth largest burgh. It was incorporated into the city of Glasgow in 1912 So Glasgow became Partick and Govan in the same year, but still gets called Glasgow. erm............ ok then......
