Walking out of the gates yesterday I was pleasently suprised by the amount of Asian fans at the game. All with smiles on there faces looking as though they had enjoyed the day. Plenty of the with saints shirts on with lambert, lallana and tadanari on the back. I think it's brilliant how we are branching out to the eastern markets both in Asia and in the UK, there are a lot of Asian students in the area and it's good to see them coming to the games. Wouldn't be surprised if we took a tour out there at some point in the coming years.
Shame they didn't get to see Lee, and Kagawa didn't exactly shine either. Glad they seemed to enjoy themselves though!
To understand the importance of the Far Asian market all you have to do is look at the focus the "Big Boys" put into trying to conquer this region. The Japanese market isn't the largest but is the most lucrative and looks like we have taken a big stride into it We need to make sure we all make these new fans welcome and part of the Saints family
I did wonder if the red shirt had any influences from the potential it could bring to the Asian market. Might just be me putting two and two together and getting five, but you never know.
It's possible. That's obviously what Cardiff and Inter (away kit) have done, to some controversy! Japan play in blue though so maybe it's not such a big thing there?
should we be expecting a bunch of africans in support for that fella who played 15 minutes the other day, I doubt it. shows how loyal and passionate asian fans are, fair play to them.
Right from the transfer of Tadanari I mentioned that this wasn't a straightforward... get the right player in... type deal. Sure Lee is good, excellent even, but it is what he brings in earnings to the club that is equally as important. An oblique example: in MotoGP, far and away the best nation, in terms of talent, is Spain. They've got them queueing up to be champions in various classes, and although they have to allow them to progress they are bending over backwards to get Brits, Americans and Germans into the rider group, because that is where the growth markets are. The UK is gradually coming alive, because again we have one guy, Cal Crutchlow, who is very competitive and very brave, and more are coming along the pipeline at a fair rate of knots. The Americans may not like F1, but they love their Nascar, their IndyCar, and their Motorbike racing. It's all about marketing, in the end.
I remember an article about when Beckham moved too Real Madred about shirt sales bringing in 10's of millions of euro's and added image rights ment he was cost neutral Not saying our two guys are quite at that level but do not under estimate the importance of foreign support
