Evident throughout last year's major games, City, Everton, Bilbao, Lpool, and its obvious for everyone to see that United do not have a Keano figure. It became more apparent against Everton and Fulham when Fellaini and Dembele won against Cleverly and Anderson, who are good in other dept. but not really in doing the dirty work. Ironic that Fellaini and Dembele, who are like Y Toure are the kind that we need. We need them more even now as our central defence is not fully fit. Would be perfect if Fergie offloaded Berba and bought Fellaini.
Well.... We have offered big money for 2 players we didnt get this window and the players we did sign would have been signed regardless of us getting either of Hazard or Moura so I would think we certainly have the funds
So no new midfield additions. Fergie has prob ably decided to give Clev. and Ando. a full season to live up to their promise. Looks like he is going for the jugular, Keegan style, we do have embarassment of riches up front.
Fellaini didn't play in midfield against United, he played up front usually pulling out wide against the fullbacks, a battle he was always going to win. For the record I'm not saying the midfield is fine, I just wanted to point that out.
Not sure about that. Southampton were troubling us on Sunday, no one able to shield the defence. And vidic and ferdi were having to initiate attacks, well that's not a good sign, is it? Anyway, Clev. got subbed. Sums it up.
Southampton will trouble a lot of people at home this season, especially the first half of the season, they even troubled City at their own ground. As I said I wasn't saying the midfield is fine (although I don't think it is quite as bad as some people make out) I was just pointing out that using Fellaini as an example was wrong because he played up front against United, often further forward than Jelavic, and he deliberately pulled out wide against the fullbacks (and sometimes Carrick) which is just smart play from a big man up front, Lambert did exactly the same for his goal.
