The average duration for a PL manager to be in charge of a club during any given tenure is 58 PL games according to the reliable folk from Sky. Now the irony is that Kenny Dalglish during his last stint at the helm was in charge for 56 PL games.

He was a one trick pony, but he was very good at doing that one trick! AND it was a very effective outlet for Man Utd.

He scored 20+ league goals in 4 out of 5 seasons, and the only reason people pointed out the fact he was not so good outside the 6 yard box apart from the odd time like against Fulham (?) is because he was often compared to Thierry Henry, and thats where his game and quality lacked in comparison to Henry.

I don't remember anyone calling Ronaldo a one trick pony after his first two seasons here as he scored goals for fun and everyone recognised his talent. He was mostly criticised for being a cock, I don't remember much criticism of his ability.

Tbh I don't understand why people feel the need to make all these stories up about how everybody all of the time always writes everything to do with their club off. Am I supposed to feel sorry for you that people occasionally write off your players or offer you my sympathies because someone may not think one of your players is the bestest in the world?

 

Lets not forget though, Fergie had alot of those games at a time when money didn't talk like it does now. Fergie has never left Man Utd and I dont blame him, he'd not be able to do it again with another club because he wouldn't get the time. The best managers are the guys that can do it with ANY club after only a few months in charge. Moreen, O'Niel etc

Umm...he's won more PL titles than Chelsea have during a period in which Chelsea have spent at least 3 times as much money. When every other "challenger" to Chelsea just rolled over Fergie was the only one who went toe to toe with them. Even last season with City spunking money like P Diddy on a spree Fergie managed to drag what was largely considered an average side to within seconds of winning the title while the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal just seemed to give up. Not sure Martin O'Neill would have had as much success (he's good at building foundations but makes excuses and jumps ship when challenged with kicking on to the next stage).

Don't you think a transfer budget of c.£300-400million might, just might, have helped Mourinho win his titles? When there was talk of Mourinho going to Liverpool it was clearly a non-starter. He will never go to a club that isn't one of the biggest spenders in their league.
