According to The Sun if you read the Wimbledon v Dagenham report in Goals we bid £300000 for him last Friday even though he has only made 3 starts!!! Not sure if i believe this or do we actually need another striker?
I can't see it happening with Birch coming back into fitness, that said if Gayle is going to be another Jackson that could displace both our current strikers then yes. Still Jacko cost us £175,000 so Gayle must be amazing.
I think the words "According to the Sun" both started the post and wrote off its' validity straight away...
We have spent quite a bit over the past few season, ok money coming with Jarvis and gazzaniga, where is the money coming from??
whilst I don't believe the 'story' ( for want of a better word ) - I 'm not so sure that we have spent anything this season ! ( freebies ) - we don't need any more strikers ( hopefully not famous last words )
edit - we have been getting a tidy sum from Jarvis, Gazza & Bertrand - probably circa £3M ( if not quite a bit more ) sorry - didn't mean to duplicate the post after my edit !
We have spent loads this season! The Gazzaniga money has gone on Strevens, Weston, Nelson, Barrett, Burton, forecast, Allen wages for the season
not quite sure if I've seen anything about a fee involved in these transactions -if so I suspect it to be a small fraction of the money we have received. Wages do not really come into the equation -as we would have to pay whoever is on the books ( or not in the case of McCammon ) and these wages should reflect that we are in L2. ( I doubt if Scally will splash out any more than necessary ) - and, of course with the release of several of last seasons squad, we have 'saved' money on wages ! edit - eg Martin Allen said in an interview that Weston was a freebie !
The only one we have spent money on to buy is adam barrett. As for the rest of these signings we have brought in...i would say that the wages of those that have left us should more than cover for our new signings we now have. So i would say that we should have most of what money we have gained of late, still available for incomings should scally allow ?
Someone else said last week that we had bids 300k for Stuart beavon but Preston came in and he choose them.I'm not convinced either stories are true.
Vinney, I hope you've not hopped over here to cause trouble Just like that Sam Saunders rumour, jeez you caused some trouble eh? btw mate, I did post an actual link for yer in support, however, soon after they removed the entire rumour thread section
Yeah i know it caused a bit of an uproar for posting a rumour on a rumour board without a link, but I really couldn't remember where I read it. There were so many stories floating around and I knew I had seen it somewhere, so thanks for posting the link..As regards Beavon, I saw that Saturday morning and if it wasn't on here it must have been on GillsOnLine.
Generally the posters are pretty good on here and don't post stuff without links. Although I will admit to letting maybe the odd one or two slip through recently. Sometimes it is about respecting your posters and if you see something come from someone that has normally posted good info, then I tend to be a bit more relaxed about it. Especially if I have been busy. After all it's a social media message board when all said and done. I might even just go and find a link myself. Watching the ensuing argument was quite funny, because it took me a few moments to find that link, when some of the posts especially the one about 'attention seeking numpties on Twitter' probably took longer to type
Just because you post a link it doesn't make it true, because you don't necessarily know where the story came from in the first place. Remember earlier in the summer when were looking for a new manager how people were convinced that media outlets were reading message boards and printing who the fans were guessing who was going to be appointed and then saying that's who it would be. The only true story seems to be when it appears on the official site normally after a signing, so links are pretty irrelevant anyway.I think its quite good having fans opinions on sites,so long as they aren't taken as gospel. Going back to the original thread that we had bid 300k for Gayle, posting a link because it was in the Sun doesn't make it any more valid than someone who has read it from an unknown source on a message board.
I'm on your side vinney, you don't need to convince me. Tell you what mate, I could have gone down the bookies and bet a £100 that the thread was going to disappear as soon as I chucked that link on it, which is what they asked from you.
I was under the impression that we payed for both Barrett and Weston? As they were both under contract at Bournemouth & Brentford before we agreed deals with them for the players. Now the official website didn't state anything about fees but I doubt that both would have let them go for free seeming as Weston is such a talent and Barrett was Bournemouth's cap'n last season.
As mentioned further up the thread, MA was definitely quoted a week or two ago as saying Weston was a free-transfer. Unless, of course, he is trying to be Steve Evans, since Crawley last season, and Rotherham this, have spent no money on transfers either
Hope he's not trying to be like Evans. The fat one is back facing the FA today http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news...aces-sex-probe-after-bradford-match-1-4896878
Well I don't think that Evans exposed himself to the female staff - I would doubt that even He's been able see his penis for some time !
