gibbs is a lot better than bertrand, who has been playing as a winger for chelsea. don't see why he's never picked.
he is better than baines, baines is a liability in defense, his great set pieces overshadow the fact that he is a poor defender.
Personally I think Bertrand is better than Gibbs. I like Gibbs alot though, I also think Richards should be Englands FIRST choice right back. Better than Johnson, better than Walker.

No worries. If Cole did pull out, can't see a better candidate than Gibbs to understudy Baines though.
I do like Gibbs and he is getting better but currently both Cole and Baines are better and a bit harsh to critasice Baines about being too attacking when that is most peoples, mine included, opinion about Gibbs. Agree though Richards is comfortably Englands best right back. Wonder if a bid for him was possible now or Jan especially if Maicon hits the ground running.
Completely agree with this. And Reverend I'm not sure he is a liability ask Everton fans they love him! He's certainly better defensively than Gibbs, I do however think in the future it will be between Bertrand and Gibbs though, with Cole as a mentor on the pitch you've got to back Bertrand to get the nod though.
Everton fans love him because he is great offensively, same with cole now, he is getting alot worse defensively, but he could start at CFC for the next 5 years because he is great offensively. Last season, Gibbs played only half the season and did not have 1 bad game, he was outstanding, and got us 4th place with his last ditch tackle in the last game, he was outstanding, and this season, he has taken his game to another level and has been one of our best 3 players in each of our matches so far. he is excellent, easily better than bertrand IMO, i think he only gets overlooked for England and GB because of injury's. We have to remember that Capello once started him for England vs france, not bertrand. the lad will be the best LB in the league very soon.
To be fair no-one knew who Bertrand was then. If you want Pedigree for starting big matches, didn't bertrand start the champions league semi against Barca or was it the Final vs Bayern? Either way against some of the best attacking players in the world. Don't get me wrong though I do rate Gibbs, he's 10x better than Santos. Each to their own though however I see our Luke Shaw having the left back spot for a good ten years
I don't really mind if the England manager doesn't rate Arsenal player "X". The lesser the chance they get injured during a friendly or qualification game against **** competition, the better. On that note we rely on one less player that will be involved in the African Cup of Nations with the departure of Song.
he started that game at LW to provide more defense on the left side when chelsea parked the bus in the final Shaw is a class player, we have scouted him a few times, would love us to sign him, he can take over from gibbs in 5 years when he is sold to city for 50m
