Max Bygraves? Soon to be Max In Grave. He's brown bread. http://www.itv.com/news/story/2012-09-01/comedian-max-bygraves-dies/
50 years in the business. He retired to Hope Island in SE Queensland a handful of years ago. Hal David also died.
Radio 2 played a medley of Max's hits this morning including "You Need Hands" which I found rather insensitive as it came right after a news item about amputees at the Paralympics.
Flicking channels on the way into work and was surprised to hear something like Max Bygraves and the penny dropped when another couple of his songs followed on. Usually switch between BBC Radio London, Absolute, Radio 4 (for real news) LBC (so that I can scream at that fat Tory w*nker Nick Ferrari) and BBC 5 Live. Used to listen to TalkSpurt but the reception on my knackered radio and the dire Alan Brazil/Ronnie Irani makes this pointless. I'm too old for Radio One and Capital, not a burd so Heart is no use and XFM is full of awful music these days. What should I be listening to then ST?
I tend to only listen to the radio while at work so it's usually Classic FM. I find most radio stations are ****e, spoiled as they are by inane DJ's who have a mental age of about 14. This is especially true of local radio DJ's. We have Forth FM and Real Radio and even undergoing a labotomoy wouldn't make them bearable.
Aye Northsound up here is just ****in embarassing. I ****in hate DJ's with a passion. Years ago the only one I could listen to was Annie Nightingale.
I tend to listen to Radio Scotland while driving, and a mix of 6 Music and Radio Scotland in the office.
I used to like Andy Kershaw. He used to play some pretty obscure music from around the world. It was great. Until he went mental
It's amazing how things jog your memory. One of my abiding memories (well obviously not that abiding) as a youngster was listening to Radio Luxemboug. The reception wasn't great but I think it was quite good although if you played a recording of the late 70's to me now I would probably think "what a pile of ****e".
