V Spurs away last season 2-1 win, This season 1-1 draw
V Fulham away last season2-1 lost, This season 5-0 lost
V QPR home last season 2-1 win, This season 1-1 draw

So 3 games this season, without losing any important players and bringing in better players to the squad all 3 results are worse.

    discuss!

err, come back to us in three years and we'll tell you the answer.

    <doh>

seriously, why bother with such a lame wind up attempt? especially after hanging on for a home point to huddersfield...

My thoughts at the beginning of the season were:

Fulham (a) loss - nil points
QPR (h) win - three points
Spurs (a) loss - nil points

So after three games I thought we'd have 3 points - we've got two so only one point behid where I thought we'd be and in truth we could have won both the QPR and Spurs games so I'm reasonably confident as we seem more solid than last year.

How are the Binners shaping up against where you thought they'd be Guru - are you disappointed or pleased with your progress so far ?

Ok, 2 reasons to explain the difference.

    1. We did not play any of those teams until December last season and the team was well "bedded in" by that time.

    2. We started slowly last season too (and you laughed your bollocks off saying we were going down ) and came good by the end.

Every reason to think the very same could so easily happen again this time round (have you watched our last 2 games out of interest?)

This 'guy' is very happy with the two performances against QPR and Spurs, after being very disappointed with our first game. The great thing about football is its unpredictability. I trust absolutely that if the team play as well as they did in these last two games, then we will pick up enough points to finish in a comfortable position. I also believe that we will pick these points up against teams we played well against last season, and some against teams who beat us last season. In addition to that, we will be entertained by the exciting style of play which those of us with long memories can remember being associated with Norwich City. These are good times, and no amount of irritating wumming will affect that 'fact'.

agree with old canaries view. i felt we'd be on 3 points as i believed we'd beat qpr. to be honest we have played really well in both games since the fulham thrashing. we've looked much better at the back than we did at any time under lambert, so that is very pleasing. against both qpr and spurs we attacked with vigour but didn't get what we deserved from either match (ie 6 points), so all in all we are much happier than we were two weeks ago. still a bit of work to be done but the ship has been well and truly steadied and i think you'll struggle to find a city fan who isn't happy with what they are seeing right now. we look stronger all over the park except up front where its the same as last year - plus the addition of harry kane, so all is looking good right now. we had 2 points after 4 games last season so even with a slow start it shows its no need to worry. why would we base results on last seasons anyway? what relevance are they to this season? how do they show progress/regression? none of the teams we've played this season are the same personnel as last season. oh, and the last two games have been attacking and filled with flair - not very 'hughton' in your opinion <laugh>

rearrange: straws at you are clutching <ok>

Thanks for you polite reply oldcanaries, TBH with our season start we are 1 point ahead of the tally that i thought we would have. I thought a win against Huddesfield, draw with blackburn and defeats against watford and blackpool. so all in all i'm fairly happy and think we have enough to be safe whilst not pushing the top teams.

Obviously i pushed some tender buttons by a couple of replies, only asking a perfectly reasonable question!

Last season, two points from first 4 games. Ahead of schedule with the great Chris Hughton, Premier League manager.

i think the phrase 'pushing tender buttons' is missing the point. you've tried a wum post which doesn't work. our response is 'why bother?', not 'you bastard - that winds me up!' <ok>

    I have a question:

Is Paul Jewell "better" than Roy Keane?

From my point of view he is doing a great job.

Another thread from the moron of Ipswich

Yeah it's a fair comparison with last season because we played against exactly the same teams with the same managers not to mention those matches occurred later in the season when we were playing better, compare last years early games against this years early games if you must.

How's Ipswich doing year on year?

It's a continuous mystery why you are still allowed to post on our board with your pathetic constant WUMming

Totally agree that we look much more solid in defence and seem to keep our shape better, though I expect we'll lose Bassong for a few weeks for the Africas cup.

Having seen all 3 games, with the eception of the woefule TEAM display against Fulham, I have to say that Hughton's stewardship will bring its just rewards quite soon. We could just as easily be on 6 points now, but I'll happily settle for 2 and hopefully we will soon be celebrating our first win, though we've certainly got a run of quite difficult matches after Wet Sham - still, who knows how the results will pan out and we gave Manure a scare both home and away last season. <ok>
