Surely we have gone as far as we can with this. The negative posters only do it because they can and I have no doubt that it is being orchestrated to enable one of them to keep the pot stirring at one time or another. I also believe that their agenda is to drive people away from the site in the hope that it will become nothing more than a slanging board. However, we must not let them win but acknowledge that there is no reasonable way of stopping their antics. It will be a shame to lose the intelligent NUFC posters but the only active action would be a short term blanket ban on all of them as the only cure for now. More headaches for the Mods I'm afraid but a Solomonistic cure must be there somewhere. Either way good luck.
I would hate to see a blanket ban on any teams fans, including those from up the road..I have found some of them to be excellent contributors to this board, enriching the experience of the topic of debate. The posters that are out to ruin every single thread are usually pretty obvious to spot, and if they don't heed to warnings given, then and only then should action be taken to stop them. That's my take on the matter anyway. PS..It should be remembered that the mods on here to it on a voluntary basis without any financial reward, and I for one very much appreciate the time and effort they dedicate in keeping this site going.
I have only been a mod for a few days, so let me burden you with my thoughts about my new role. We are arbiters of what is reasonable and we provide a hopefully objective review of any sensible complaint. I am not going to start deleting posts, threads or anything else because someone has said something that gets up someone's nose. That is not the test. People's comments etc. should only be nodded if they are plainly set out to annoy (non-malicious piss-takes don't count) or they are persistent with comments that may not on their own warrant action. Blatantly racist or otherwise offensive comments will get stamped on. We are not here to protect the sensibilities of SAFC fans from other club's fan's comments. You may not like what they say, but it doesn't mean what they say is necessarily untrue. Any comments gratefully received.
Nicely said Sid. We all post on this forum because we enjoy the interaction with other fans, if we didn't we'd solely use a SAFC only forum. As Sid has mentioned, and as I said yesterday, we will never get into a situation when we remove content simply because it's a certain poster, or it may be contradictory to our opinions as SAFC fans. Sunderland & Newcastle squabbles go back way longer than any of us have been on this earth! Can I say, thanks for the PM's, one excellent suggestion I have received, from an SAFC fan, is that maybe the yellow card/red card system also be applied to Sunderland fans who go down somebody's throat without justification. Interested to hear peoples thoughts on this, as I do feel often that this happens and then it kicks off.
Personally, I'm a little bit sceptical of all this, and if it is going to administered then it should be done with a private message to the perpetrator, because a public reprimand could result in further wind ups.. Best of luck with it all, whatever you decide lads.
Absolutely it would remain private RAW, as I said, was a suggestion from a Sunderland lad, pointing out that sometimes the bother does start from our side.
50/50 mate. We've got no power to half the gaff and are waiting on a roofer to sort out the damage up there, hopefully so though, there's a whole lot less damage than we initially thought, amazing really, there's nowt left around us, but our place is ok! The worst thing is my big massive Astra dish, that literally picks up every channel on gods earth, is melted, the guys coming this afternoon to try and salvage it! If not I'll roll the whole thing to the next home game, the plan was to head London on Thursday, but I'd say, realistically, this trip if I make it, it'll be fly to Newcastle Sat am via Paris, and back Sunday.
i dont mind the occasional WUMmery!!! But one simple solution in response to constant WUM's is to reply simply with the word 'nob!' If that generates a response, then simply reply again with the word 'nob!'........and so on!!!
Surely this is what we all want. Remove the worst offenders by all means and if they are SAFC fans so be it and if that is me then thats fine too. However, it must be said that with the 3 or 4 newcastle individuals who dont really want to contribute positively, they create the environment to which all posts are then met. Without them there is no need for the degeneration of the site. If you dont stike a lit match and dont wave it over petrol, then there is less likelyhood of a fire starting; prevention being far better than cure, removing the minority will benefit the majority.
In my opinion, the stand out worst is the Humble character...He has never ever contributed anything but bile, lies and abuse in order to provoke a reaction...
Huge statement there from one of the worst offenders on these boards? Pot / kettle anyone? If a majority of my fellow sunderland posters think this to be true about me and wish it to be so, then I will accept a ban if it means keeping the integrity of this forum as it was intended and most certainly used to be.
