....with some of our fans. When you have been around as long as me you realise that in life there are people whose opinions you value and you take note of their views. Then there are others who talk such utter crap you just save your breath and energy and ignore them altogether. I may fit into one or other of those categories for you so you will either dismiss what I am about to say or nod your head in agreement. Today I watched a great game of football and was astonished at how our players have developed and grown. Morgan and a very young Ward Prowse domintaed Manchester United's midfield. They scared the living daylights out of Fergie. RVP had to keep coming deep to get the ball because we were so good at breaking up their play. Rickie has astonished me. He has scored two very good goals against the best two English teams at the moment. Two goals in three games against the best. Clyne was superb and his passing along the line and link up play with Jason was excellent. Adam Lallana is becoming one hell of a footballer and will be playing for England soon. Davis in midfield worked hard but is not yet fully match fit but he is a clever footballer and it was he who had cramp late on. Guly was not playing so the boo boys needed someone to pick on and it just had to be Fox. He had a steady game but he does allow the oposition too much space down the left. Jos and Jose had their hands full but played possibly the best game I have seen them play. Adkins needed to freshen up the game and he had three players who had run themselves into the ground and needed replacing. He had the new lad up front because he was hoping his pace would create the goal scoring chances to win us the game. Now the Guly haters are not going to like this but for the short while he was on he played well and backtracked and gave a lot of help in defence. My man of the match was Morgan who was just brilliant and I was so pleased to see him score. If you go through our team man by man you will see that the majority were playing in League 1 15 months ago and today they were holding their own against one of the strongest and most successful teams in Europe. Saints have the players they have and without doubt the team will benefit from the three latest signings and the return of Tadanari Lee but what they wont benefit from is the whingers and moaners and those stoney faced idiots I saw storming out of the ground before the final whistle. That motley crew could learn a great deal from Pompey fans about what it means to truly support your club. I walked away from the ground today with my head held high and proud of each of our players. I am now rather ashamed of some of our fans and their disgraceful and ill informed comments. For our long time posters I have to tell you that all the way from the ground to home and all through this evening (even during dinner) I have had to listen to the very lovely Mrs Godders humming La Marseillaise and rabbiting on endlessly about her dear Morgan and how wonderful he is. I am convinced she will even be humming the flaming tune in her sleep!
I'm surprised you didn't comment on a particular vocal minority of idiots booing Guly when he came on, truly embarrassing.
You must have been unlucky with the fans around you...there was disappointment around me and people thinking that the subs were wrong, but no fan within my orbit was critical of the players. One person sighed when Guly came on, but that was it.
i take your points about the midfield, awesome today and for large parts actually dominated one of europes best opponents esp morgan, and the strikers who were potent, but the best you've seen jos and jose play? free header for their 3rd goal and a stupid penalty to give away - sure they havent deserved all the stick theyve been getting tonight but thats quite a big claim seeing as there were times in the championship where they looked unbeatable at the back. more bedding in time required, i think anyway
When Morgan planted that header, the first thing that crossed my mind was, that the lovely Mrs Godders is going to be over the moon about that, de da da, da da, da da, da de dum, de da da de da, da da de dum. Merde.
I was in corner of Kingsland at the Chapel end...the booing of Guly was mainly far to my left towards the Northam. They used to do the same to Puncheon. Should be ashamed.
I agree entirely and I think we have one hell of a midfield and attack. The defence coped well against the best striker in the Premier League for most of the game but a couple of mistakes and he will score. The future is bright, we have a fantastic team coming on but I just hope we pick up points soon.
Humour them, it's not their fault, just a foible. Have you noticed the Japanese invasion, there were at least 20 individuals from the area in and around my seat in the Kingsland, mostly wearing something 'Saints' on them. Tada and Yoshi have a strong following already.
Our team is fine bar our defence , I would never boo Guly , sure I dint rate him but I would not boo him nor any other player , but does anyone think our defence is good enough ?
Well Said Godders, not a single point I disagree with! No doubt Mrs Godders will be dreaming of Morgan in an exciting and .... um, yeah you know where I'm going!
I doubt that was why they were booing...they'd boo him if he had just donated a kidney to a sick child.
True to a certain extent, but when he does something as stupid as that, that not only effects the club, but also other people who have been effected by drink driving incidents then maybe he should have fans opinions voiced at him.
