What he had to say following the game: "I am disappointed with the scoreline and the goals we conceded," Rodgers said. "I can't fault the players, they have given everything but we have things to work on, needing to keep the ball better and Arsenal did that well in the final period. Giving the ball away has nothing to do with the style of play. There is a long way to go. We should have had a penalty when Luis Suarez was fouled but you need to stick the ball in the net." Nothing about missing out on a striker or how he was angry to miss out on Dempsey, which I hoped he would be. At least he comes across partly disappointed with giving the ball away and not scoring.
He isnt going to come out in public and rant about the transfer policy this summer. But I hope Rodgers is on the phone to the owners right now giving them a piece of his mind and that they have sold him and the club out.
He was right not to mention strikers after the game, he needed to talk about the players he had available and playing on the pitch.
It's annoying he keeps coming out with "I can't fault the player" why the **** not?! They are the only ones at fault for that abysmal performance. Gerrard and Suarez needs a boot up the Arse.
It would've been fairly unprofessional of him to slate FSG in an after march interview. Even though they have been stingy ****ers since their arrival
I'm sure Rodgers will say what needs to be said behind close doors. As a team we have to rely on our best players to play how we know they can play, it certainly wasn't a bad performace, but the errors we keep making have to be learnt from.
Why on earth would he talk about missing out on a striker? Thats internal business that discussed in-house, and probably has been discussed during a conference call with the owners. If reports are correct, then Ian Ayre has had his hands slapped by the owners for general incompetence. Yes its his fault, he was the fixer. Brendan got it spot on with his assessment. Well at least he didn't say it was a wonderful performance, similar to the guff Hodgson used to come out with. In a way I'm not too upset that we've made a slow start. If we'd made a terrific start, then expectations would have been unrealistic. This way, its trial and error, we need to improve, we can improve.
Ahh,a shaft of light amongst the doom and gloom. Bearing in mind BR is here for at least a couple of seasons, some of the reactions on these boards are frightening to say the least. And it's been 3 ****ing games!!
Whether he vents his spleen publicly or privately, your owner's reaction would still be the same; "Or you'll do what Brendan?" Patsie Manager employed to run the Club on the cheap. End of.
Its not really Ayres fault if he's being given a pittance to sign players is it? You try and get a Prem player with 40 odd goals in two seasons for 3 mill. Think you could do it? I ****ing doubt it somehow. Either Ayre is just doing FSGs dirty work or he's being well and truly set up as the fall guy. Either way the shambles that has being going on at Anfield for the last 18 months isn't Ian Ayres fault (entirely), it isn't Rodgers fault, or Kennys or even entirely Comollis. What's the connection between all 4 men? How come its always someone elses fault? As for the fact you're glad we've started so poorly...you have got to be kidding me right? You think 1 point from 9 with Sunderland away and United at home to come is a good thing? Jesus Christ
I have no issues with BR. He's another one who's been completely hoodwinked by our gobshite owners. At some point he will become their next fall guy. Already he knows he has one hand tied behind his back and must be privately fuming at the events of this week. He's been shafted just like the rest of us
There has clearly been a **** up during the transfer window re. goal scoring options etc. I just feel this blame game stuff is a pointless and negative direction to take.BR has said there are 'operational things to iron out' and we have to take him by his word,no club comes out of a period like LFC have endured over recent years without teething problems. It's all going to take some time.
