Right lads, enough of all the bickering & in-fighting! My mate went to the game today & he said that talk was rife around the ground that the take-over will go through (i.e. announced via press conference) tomorrow or more realistically Monday morning. Its something to do with a clause in the previous acquisition of the Club by Bates which apparently stipulated he had to be Chairman for a minimum of 3 years (which is tomorrow). The programme seller also confirmed he had been told the same info. FOR THE RECORD: I dont know if this is true or not (but will live in hope!) I also dont know what sources the programme seller has or if he was just repeating what the general consensus gossip was at the match today. Please dont abuse me if it turns out not to be true! I am just SHARING what I have been told. M.O.T.
Too late! You've done it now. Elmo Bates will read this & decide that you're a feckin' half wit that's stating facts (not passing on the word on the streets - but expressing facts !!) that are absolute gash. Prepare for an onslaught, B-Y-L (unless he's finally got round to taking his medication).
Not heard a peep so far, maybe the men in white coats have arrived & issued him with a straight-jacket & heavy tranquillizers!
I never heard that. Bates' program notes stated unless you see it with your own eyes don't believe it. He reveled in the non story in thursdays sun. It read to me as though he is going nowhere soon. He also called into question the ability of new owners to stump up the cash and run the clun going forward. Stop speculating and only believe it when it happens. You would (all) be better organising a protest than just speculating. The only good thing so far is that LUST have been exposed as a sham group and many of it's members are now openly critical of the leadership/ propoganda merchants. If anyone thinks staying away is the way forward,i disagree. Risking killing the club is too big a gamble even if Bates is staying. Another administration and we would be in the blue square.
Bates certainly can't/won't stump up cash to take us forward so a little ironic to say the least from the old twat. IF the T/O happens it won't in my opinion be for a good few weeks yet, if we were on the verge everything would have been sped up to enable Neil to use the transfer market. New potential owners should have been turning the screw and giving Bates an ultimatum, sign the paper work before the end of August or the deal is dead. All this ball is in Bates court and we haven't the money to see the end of the season out twaddle, frankly I am fed-up with it. Again I point out if things were that dire who in their right mind would risk losing out on £50million. If we go under Bates loses everything. It doesn't matter how much we hate him or how much some say he is a bad business man, the bottom line is that he is very wealthy, he makes a very good living at what he does and he wouldn't throw that kind of money down the drain.
I can't believe this is what it's come down to! Bates has driven you lot to bickering like women! Come on lads get a grip and debate rather than slag each other off, that reminds me Boab wherever you are I do apologise for being a twat haha
Anytime they peddled "information" that was cobblers over the close season. Go count the times yourself, they had thee deal on and off more times than a whores drawers.
I was answering the question Simon asked. Feel free to ignore any of my posts if they offend your keltic sensibilities.
Answered it with your antii lust stuff. At least those guys got off their arses and tried to make a change rather than hiding behind a keyboard like many who like to take cheap pops at lust
How did we get onto anal lust? This thread is out of control, and moving in a very disturbing direction.
First time poster so please bear with me. On the LUST debate I am sure that they are all Leeds Utd fans and mean well, but they certainly dont help themselves. They profess to have contact with the supposed buyers but Garry Cooper as come out on numerous occasions and said the takeover is imminent,it will be done by the end of the month,it will be done before the transfer window closes, and so on.This as really not helped,it gets the fans hopes up, and then only to be knocked down again.I do think Lust, as I said mean well, but I do think that they have played right into Bates hands who we all know hates them with a vengance.I think Bates is that evil that if he thought LUST had got the date of a deal being done right, he would put that date off just to prove them wrong.LUST should now keep quite and let the powers that be get on with it.In my oppinion LUST have not helped anyone in all this, they have only got fans argueing with each other and to me that is a crying shame as we all should be UTD.
We are all "united" in wanting the best for Leeds United FC. As with any business and any football club, there are many ways of doing that and many opinions on what is the best way forward. LUST are representatives of a large number of fans, and they may say something at times that an element of their membership don't agree with. What should we expect from a group that covers 7500 people? No-one is likely to agree with every little thing they do (I certainly don't, and there are elements ofthe vision statement I don't like), but they have got off their backsides and actually done something. They have mobilised instead of doing nothing, they have many high level people on their side, and they have applied pressure on Bates, and introduced the possibility of new owners. Whether it eventually fails is not something that they should be ridiculed for. They should be applauded for having done what they have done, being a catalyst for eventual change and bringing realistic hope. To me, anyone against LUST is against change at LUFC, or just jealous, or is pro-Bates, picking up on pedantic little issues instead of seeing the possibilities and doors they have opened on our behalf. The anti-LUST people are actively pitting themselves against the largest group of LUFC supporters, showing their own disunity while claiming the same.
