We need a player like Chico in the team, it's been ages since we have been able to get our retaliation in first, michu also gets his foot in. These boys are just showing that they rant going to take any **** in the perm league, they are proving to people that they won't be pushed around. I expect Chico to calm down once he has earned his reputation as a no nonsense aggressive defender, he knows as do many that have played the game that intimidation is a part of the game and also his defensive armoury .

ML did say he was a defender that loved a tackle !! We need players like him and michu mixing it , I like to see a centre forward worry about what tackle he is going to be met with,it puts him off from thinking what corner of the goal he is going to bend the ball into <ok>

Chico will have to learn to walk the tight line though, I expect him to figure out how far he take things as the season progresses ;)

imo he was a bit to animated in the last three games, hope this little episode calms him a bit (little bit) as we dont want to cramp his style. maybe ml will have that chat with him now and hopefully he will come back all the better for it. my main worry at the moment is cover as taylor is going to be out for a while. thought ben davies looked good on his debute allthough there were signs of inexperience. so im thinking maybe monk and tate in. im going for these two as i havnt seen much of the other options, maybe other posters have and if so please tell. and please dont come on saying that tate looks to awkward around the ball cos he allways looks like that. :)

It'll be Bartley in for Chico and Davies for Taylor imo.

Chico needs to take a deep breath and a long look at himself. For all his attributes he's no use to us on the sidelines.

The "Kung Fu" effort was abysmal, what was he thinking? The other tackle that has been mentioned was spot on, he went for and got the ball, a great tackle. He needs to understand to be hard but fair. I think that ML will have a word and make no bones about it with him.

ML now has two weeks to sort out who plays where, this International break could work to our advantage ...... for once.

Agree much needed steel, very silly tackle and a deserved red. By the way imo Fletcher is a very good finisher/poacher and we saw yesterday why Martin O'niel rated him so highly. So I can't blame Chico or Ash either they will succeed more times than fail.

I'm with Chico. We need more steel in our team because for far too long we've been regarded as soft touches. He will have to rein himself in a bit though because too much of it can be counter productive. His high tackle was impulsive. The ball was well past him but neither did I think he was trying to kick Saha whose play acting was a disgrace. His shoulder was brushed and nothing more than that.

My unbiased opinion is that it was worthy of a yellow and no more. The tackle looked far worse than it was but it was still a stupid one to try and make. I'm sure Laudrup will mark his card and get his mind set right. We now have problems with Taylor and Chico out because we don't have great options as cover. If Monk is injured do we use Tatey? At least he and Ash have an understanding. What about Situ? Is he anywhere near the first team? I've heard good reports about him in the stiffs. Maybe Bartley could do a job until gets back. At least he offers height and strength and Ash would help him through.

The main worry, though, is Taylor because he's long term. Ben Davies is promising but can we really risk him long term? There's no doubt the sharks will target him big time and might destroy his confidence. Jazz? Bartley at full back? Obeng? I don't know. Maybe Laudrup might consider starting a midfielder in there or we might see Bartley at CB with Tatey filling in at LB. I'm glad it's not my job to decide.....

Ivor don't you think Tatey is now a tad too slow, remember the opener of last season and we were destroyed down his wing.

Chico out for the next game & Williams coming off a very poor performance , there should be only one player directly to Williams right next game to help calm Williams and do a good job at the same time , that's his old partner Gary Monk . P.S. Red card every time for Chico or anyone else for that matter for such a play regardless of contact

Agree about Fletcher. When Wolves were relegated I (and others) posted that he would be a good buy. As it turned out he was too expensive but he is a very clever player and a class striker.

Ffs, yeah, I agree about Tatey but don't know whether to go for his experience and commitment as opposed to a specialist full back in Davies who is very green. Mind you, who is to say he won't step up and be a success? It does happen in football.

Ivor a lot of our team has done just that and stepped up, Taylor did just that in my opinion. You don't know until you try or have no option and throw them in the deep end. With that in my mind I'll be happy with 4-5 points in the next 3 games.

I think it's unfair to lay any blame on him for yesterday as all our defence were shocking. Yes the red card was a ridiculous challenge to make/attempt but I think hes gonna be a great asset to us. He's an absolute beast in the air, has a no nonsense attitude and will probably scare the life out of many forwards. So long as we have adequate cover in Bartley then I won't mind to much the odd slip up here and there like we saw yesterday. He will win us far more points than cost us imo.

A poor defensive display cost us victory yesterday not just Chico Flores. Admittedly, he was to blame for the second goal and his 'Roundhouse' didn't help, but I personally think that this will be a blessing in disguise.

He's been, lets say, a little exuberant in the challenge since pre-season and I think many of us were just waiting for an 'incident' involving him, flesh and studs was bound to happen.

Now it has he can calm himself and learn from this, become more sneaky, less blatant and more 'out the corner of the eye' kinda defender, less Spanish and more Italian.

I think he adds Steel but a little more sense wouldn't go amiss.

I think that's the general view Stumpy.

Ivor: "My unbiased opinion is that it was worthy of a yellow and no more."

Reckless and dangerous high kicks will result in red almost every time. Contact is a side issue.

He has a bad disciplinary record that needs to be worked on but all players have off days; I think he is a good signing and adds some much needed robustness to our backline. I would be more worried about who plays at left back with Neil Taylor injured.

chico brings steel and attitude but his recklessness and play-acting need to go. too early to judge at the moment but a few tweaks to adapt to the prem and he will be fine.
Notice that williams is getting off lightly for that dreadful backpass, we were all over that game even with 10 men, if Williams had been more awake we would have all 3 points.
    just saying...

I hope certain aspects of Chico's performance yesterday could be just considered as a bad day at the office..

Thought Ash had a poor game today, not up to his usual standards. On Chicco I of the opinion we need that bit of steel in the team and yes me may get a couple of red cards, but he will ruffle some strikers and make them have a poor game so I'm going to cut him some slack. Nice to see Michu having a pop when they started having a go at Leon top man.
