Why is it ****e? If black and white kids had separate schools, and racism was endemic in the country, wouldn't the first step be to merge the schools? By having separate schools, you are drumming in to impressionable kids that they are fundamentally different.
It's hardly rocket science... Segregation of kids is divisive and a cancer in our society. Impressionable children taught at 5 years old they are different to other children..then we spend time debating why there is such bigotry in this country.. And yet there are faith schools throughout the whole of Britain and it doesn't seem to bother anyone else apart from Rangers fans.
I was six when WW2 ended. Were we racist? Yes. Germans were the enemy, Japs,hated, the French surrended. the Ities were to be laughed at as their fighting capabilities were deemed to be worse than bad. The USA came in late and, according to them, won the war. We must have got these attitudes from our parents. Oh in those days Rotherham United were our footballing enemies. I have met people from all these nations, including Rotherham, and found them good to work and socialise with. I went to an all boys state school. This made me neither gay or anti woman. If a community wishes to educate its children, Church, for instance, it should be allowed to do so. I fear PC and ,as an active Christian, also believe that we ought to be able to wear the cross, I dont, if we wish to. Many things contribute to our attitudes therefore free speech is essential if we are to grow and learn and the freedom, within the law, to propogate what we believe. Can our attitudes change for the better? Yes.
