Quinn showed more in ninety minutes than Stewart did in all his time here. Looks like Bruce's decision to bin him off and bring in Quinn has been vindicated after one whole game.
I'm not sure if your being sarcastic or not but we had two centre forwards on the bench so yes I'd agree that there were attacking options available.
Stewart would give us the ability to change it off the bench, theres no need to have 3 defenders & a holding midfielder on the bench, there isnt really the ability to change it up.
I think so. That bench to me wasn't balanced, there wasn't someone to come on and change things. Id have had Devitt on there as well as the 2 strikers personally.
Some of the comments on Facebook were laughable during the game today. Quinn was labled as a 'donkey from the blunts' 20 minutes into the game and from what I hear produced a man of the match performance (he wasn't the only one either). On today's evidence Bruce's decision has been justified. I hope Stewart makes the most of his loan spell and comes back here with his form back but things look positive with Quinn.
If we wanted to change it to be more attacking we'd have brought a striker on for one of the holding midfielders and let Aluko drop into the midfield, or changed the defence and pushed Elmo into midfield. I for one was quite pleased we didn't have a bench full of attacking options like we've had recently, it meant we had some on the pitch to start with.
I think you will find that although he scored a goasl Hutch that isnt really the point. you see you are looking purely at statistics. One goal one game-so what i say. His actual strike of the ball was very very poor, why it was akin to a Matty Fryatt scuff. I had to cover my lads eyes it was that bad. It did it offended me. Not that Cameron would ever be charging into the 6 yard box but if he had i can assure you he would have struck that ball so cleanly into the side netting, or the crowd we would have been applauding with delight.
Spot on. Stewart is no loss...he contributed nothing last season. Hopefully the loan spell at Burnley will get him untracked but I dont see where he fits given our present quality.
Best match at the KC for a long time IMO. Aluko always looked a cut above everyone else before he went off. Hopefully not too serious. Personally think Steve Bruce got the matchplay spot on today
Fingers crossed Cameron goes away and does well. A lot of harsh comments on here about a young lad learning the game and only recently overcoming a very bad knee injury. Even if we do get shot he deserves a bit more respect off people.
There's still time for Stewart if he returns. He's only 21 and having to fight to get back into the team could bring the best out of him. Putting all the stats to one side Stewart was once our most dangerous player and his injury was probably the main thing that scuppered Pearson's first season. Players don't become bad overnight. I hope we persevere with Stewart because if he does find his early form again he could be a valuable asset.
