Does anyone else on here believe that this keeper is not actually as good as he has been held out to be? I bit my tongue at the weekend after seeing the Inverness goal get past him, but again last night I felt he was too slow to react certainly to the first goal and possiblythe second where they are rolling past his feet/hands without him moving. Dont get me wrong on all three occassions noted above the team were guilty of overplaying the ball in their own half and gifting possession to the opposition in a good attacking position for them. I believe that Cammy Bell should be back in at the weekend, unless its a ploy to force him out of the door early? Why would they do that to such a top quality keeper. Certainly something strange going on that he didnt even make the bench. I really hope if were going to try play a 4-3-3 afgainst the old firm again that we leave the football untill their half. They picked us off too easily and there was a huge gap at times between our defence and attack. Lets have 2 wins and a draw out of the last 5 games as a target for the players to stretch themselves.
Glad someone else thinks the same. After the St Johnstone game I would have dropped him straight away. He doesn't move much, his handling is poor IMO, he punches rather than catches the ball, he doesn't spread himself which is why the goals we are losing look cheap. If I was a defender playing in front of him I would not have much confidence in him doing his job properly. Also his distribution is poor, which has been a major factor in how we build from the back - he is far too slow for a start and I wonder if someone needs to switch him on. Like most keepers he is a good shot stopper, however the rest of his game is no better than what you woud see in the juniors - Arthurlie have a better keeper than him IMO. Not quite a dooby-doo but not much better and if I am being honest I am angry that Mixu & Shiels have chosen not to play Bell, who is a far better keeper, as I believe you should always be using your best players. Why pay him a wage for no return? Banning him or puishing him seems childish to me. Medhi is going, Wright is probably going, Hamill is probably going, yet they are not dropped - why is Bell diferent? This childish stance has probably cost us points.
Agreed. Also, I was surprised he elected to punch the ball on a few occasions when I would have expected him to hold on to it Unfortunate, considering the defense were being subjected to waves of attack and needed any respite they could get. Not blaming him for the result, just an observation. Note to Kenny: adjust tactics when playing Celtic (if we know how to), allowing them room to play is suicide. I'll take 4 boring games a year over feeling like roadkill.
Every time a player is thro' goal I get the impression he will score, unlike with Bell I feel we still have a good chance he will block it
I would rather see us playing Letheren than the Janker.I originally thought we had found another Anti Niemi but what we have ended up with Anti Pasta, not much good when wet and it goes all floppy under pressure. I agree with Killie61 play Bell before he moves to rankers, you never know we might even get a result against the old scum with him in goal.
