I can't understand that if you feel so strongly that the prawn sandwich brigade who sit in Club Level are not "your people" why you even contemplated going on the waiting list.Every one knew when the new stadium was built what type of "fan" club level was aimed at

Newbie here. I don't always agree with Savage but he has a point here.

A big club has history, form and ambition. We have the first but no longer are we a form club and as for ambition. Well, what club looks at 4th place and think it's a trophy? Making up numbers is now the best we can hope for under this manager and board. The only way is down.

    I don't agree.
The climate today is a million miles away from the climate that existed when AW began his reign, 3rd/4th place is about as good as we can expect all the time the chequebook clubs are allowed to bully the game to ruin, seeing how much other clubs have spent and where they regularly finish should should act as a warning of where we could be.
I;m with those that say AW should be applauded for our continuous CL qualification while others see a lack of silverware as a failure.

We do not need to write big cheques. Dempsey cost £6m. That is not a break the bank sum of money. If Wenger and the board had bought one or two players over the past couple of years, perhaps Nasri, Fabregas and van Persie may not have left. As it is we make profits each summer which translates as underinvestment. We qualified last year in the CL because Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool messed up and we only made 3rd because Spurs lost it on the home stretch. If not for van Persie we would have been 7th or 8th, perhaps lower.

Here's our position in the table for the 16 seasons "under this manager", and the 16 seasons before him for comparison.

    Wenger era avg. position: 2.56
    Pre-Wenger: 5.5

Yet we are now a smaller club? GTFO.

Yes, compared to your Manu's and Mancity's and Chelsea's and Barca's and Madrid's, we are not in their category, and if you think we are, you're only deluding and lying to yourself. Those teams are wining trophies, challenging for trophies, all we currently do is challenge for a top 4 spot, so the facts say we are a smaller club compared with those clubs. We are no longer an elite club.

Your table also shows we have greatly regressed as well, you look at our status from 97-2005, and we were always a top 2 side, or winning the league itself, then after 2005 it's downhill with a majority of 4th place and only twice coming in at 3rd, no matter how much you want to spin it, THAT IS GOING BACKWARDS, when you constantly end in the top 2, and then constantly end in 4th place, is that moving forwards, or backwards? You can try and spin it as much as you want, that's clear proof of regression.

We qualified for the CL because over the course of 38 games we were the 3rd best team in the league.
Am I the only one that thinks Dempsey wouldn't improve improve our side ? The guy is 29 years old and wasn't considered good enough for the premier lge until he was 24, there are also clear attitude issues given he went on strike and refused to play for the club that plucked him from a league on a par with lge 2 and made him a multi millionaire.
I'm not saying he's a bad player but I really wouldn't see him improving our team

Kyle is a very kind and useful poster for helping out a fellow poster with uncertainties?

That would make a nice sig.

Then again, your current sig suits you.

Thanks mate, but I don't go big on signatures, I'll leave the sigs to those who want to preach negativity.
I saw on another thread that someone said we were no longer an elite club - 16 consecutive years in the not elite ?
