I must have missed all the times he gave the ball away today, he had a very good game capped by a goal saving challenge that spared us a nervy finish.
I wouldn't say he was he weak link today, Chester and Faye were also playing balls to Knight. When it came to the last ditch tackle it was because Faye, Chester and the midfield at the right hand side of the defence had conspired to let Bolton just walk through them. Chester could have been booked for that tackle that gave Bolton a freekick early on as well. Bruce was also ridiculously unlucky to concede that freekick right in front of the East Stand in the 2nd half, it was probably the best tackle of the game and was nowhere near being a foul but it was another of those refs who let them go when the player was taken and the ball wasn't but the gave them when the ball was won and there was no danger for the player. Not keen on him being right footed at the left of the 3, but it did seem to encourage forward passing on occassions rather than sideways or hoofs.
I'm sure roseniorsgranisfromhull, OLM and the rest of anti-Bruce brigade share in the delight of Bruce Junior and Senior tonight and are happy to eat a bit of humble pie.
Thought he was terrible as always, if it wasn't for him trying to be a super hero and getting his head in the way of that free kick deflecting it into the net they'd never have even scored one. And if it wasn't him who deflected it, it was still his fault somehow because he was there.
OLM's not a mod anymore you dont have to suck up to him. Have your own opinion. So how many times did he lose the ball compared to Chester and Faye??
That early Chester 'free kick' was right in front of me, it was clear as day an inch perfect tackle, he touched the ball at last half a second before the Bolton player tripped of his leg. I was wildly bemused at how the ref managed to think it was a free kick, if he got booked it would have been nothing short of ludicrous. And if your on about the one they scored from that was olofinjana.
Thought Bruce has looked solid in all three games I've watched. Has taken a lot of undeserved criticism because of his dad. A good squad player and signing IMO.
Actually he is still a mod, a replacement hasn't been put in place yet. Why because I share the same view as another poster on one topic is it seen as sucking up? If you shared an opinion with Ricardo would that be you not having an opinion. The fact is, you launch a personal attack on anyone who doesn't share your opinion. You called me a **** because I didn't think Bruce was 'excellent'. He really wasn't as well, he was decent, there were 8/9 better performances in black&amber today, where are their articles? Bruce is an okay player from what we've seen so far. On the Bruce Snr. topic, a lot of posters on here's thoughts on Bruce before he came here were along the lines of 'useless dinner lady, was given too long at Sunderland', that much is clear on the article when he was sacked at Sunderland. Personally, I don't mind Bruce Snr., although I think some of his decisions already have been highly questionable. I'm not someone who came on here after the Donny game calling for his head, in fact, I don't know if anyone seriously actually thought Bruce should be sacked. In response to you final question, Bruce lost it at least 5/6 times in the first half and I can't remember Chester losing the ball once.
No, he didn't. He consistently looked like their one route back into the match. As I said the other day, he's constantly ball-watching.
Chester lost the ball twice in the first half, one he got away with, the other was a terrible clearance whilst under no pressure which went straight to their player in dangerous space who Oli had to challenge, gave away the free kick which led to the goal. Blame for their goal in order would be Bruce, Chester, Oli, then Bruce again.
Explain how Bruce (twice) comes into that? Even if Bruce deflected it (which only you seemed to see) it's not fair to blame any player for a deflection.
Bruce was and has been solid.. but like some have pointed out him playing ahead of a good young player like Cooper is just bloody annoying if i'm anne frank.
I don't have a clue who it was, I just saw Amos having a right go at Bruce as soon as it went in so I assumed he was the culprit who deflected it into the onion bag. Mind the players might just blame Bruce for everything themselves.
Bruce is there to cover until Hobbs is back isn't he? If this 3-5-2 system is still used it means that the team gets stronger when Hobbs returns. Amos Hobbs Chester Faye Elmohamady Dudgeon Quinn Koren Olofinjana Aluko Simpson Bench: Jakupovic Rosenior Bruce Proschwitz McLean Evans Fryatt It looks, on paper, very attacking. Hopefully Prossy will develop to challenge Simpson/Fryatt.
Faye was having a go at Chester after their goal as that is who deflected the ball. Some people are never happy, we won 3-1, very good performance and 3 new signings scored. Simpson was unlucky to have his goal ruled out as their goalie was a tart. Bruce made a crunching tackle in 2nd half that the dosile ref gave a free kick for, it was never a foul in a million years.
