Someone, somewhere MUST be able to convince me that Hughes got his tactics right today, I doubt it, but please try.

    I can't.
Left out Cisse, Taarabt , Hoilett and Mackie.
    Still remain unconvinced!

I think if we'd have played like we did in the 2nd half from the start, actually putting pressure on a wobbly City back 4 and maybe got a draw, then we wouldn't be talking about Hughes tactics

I think midfield was right, strike force debatable but they delivered.

Defence still abysmal, but apart from that it's great.

Oh bloody hell. It was a much improved performance against he best side in the league at their home ground. I thought the tactics were spot on.

Thought tactics were ok. We looked like a team today.More solid at the back.Tarbs and Mackie we prbly would have lost 6-1. Hoillet should have come on for SWP and Cisse a bit earlier. Ok,we lost, but some very positive signs.

    Well said, Col.

Also - Hughes does not know how to defend. Besides - if Ferdinand was struggling after his clash, why would you not pull him out right away and rest him? It was pretty obvious. Of course, consequently, they scored, because he couldn't get there fast enough to block to jump in the way of Tevez, nor really looked like he wanted to throw his body into it as he was in pain.

How long will take to gel? If Hughes doesn't learn to defend, it doesn't matter what we do with the midfield.

If Nelson had tucked one of his away we wouldn't be having this conversation. Fine lines. The premiership is a squad game. Get used to it. I'd be very surprised if we ever play the same starting 11. That was a top effort against the League champions away from home missing several key players!

It's only because Citeh got a bit tired in the 2nd that we were able to play at OUR pace, not theirs by which we were out-paced in the 1st!

So the tactics were fine, players just didn't deliver first half. Or maybe he got the tactics wrong in the 1st half and right in the 2nd

You keep peddling this bollox yappy, and every time i point you to the run of good defending performances that kept us up, you fail to respond. If Hughes doesn't know how to defend, could you perhaps enlighten us as to how it's done?
