I think he's 'international injured', if you know what I mean. Something tells me he'll be back for West Ham's next game.
I didn't criticise Harry over Crouch and hoof ball tactics, I was a big fan of Crouch. That's the player BTW who scored at Eastland and the San Siro, remember those games? I love seeing crosses come in and players like Carroll fighting for them. It many be that's not AVB's style, fair enough, let's see what his style is exactly and how effective. You were wrong to call Carroll a donkey, he's an international striker, who looked a good player at Toon. Look at Defoe playing lone striker, now that's donkey for you. Hee bloody haw.
I think that Allardyce is one of the most sly managers in the game. He'll do anything to gain an advantage, from tactical changes to altering the size of the pitch. I can't remember Upton Park's surface being utter crap in the past...
That is your opinion. Time will tell if I am right or wrong. I don't think I have been proven wrong so far. I'm sure that Carroll will do well for the Spanners, but you have to bear in mind that the Spanners will be playing a style of football that they will use to try to ensure their survival in the EPL. That's exactly what the Toon did when they had Carroll playing for them, because they had only just been promoted to the EPL, and had to ensure survival. Carroll is a good forward to have in a side that is scrapping for survival. 'Pool was not a side that was scrapping for survival, they were a side that had aspirations of a top 4 finish. Carroll looked like a fish out of water in that side. We are not a team that is scrapping for survival, and we have aspirations of a top 4 finish. Carroll would look like a fish out of water in our side. You've got to give up on this fantasy that Carroll is anything other than an old-fashioned centre-forward, suited to an old fashioned game. English football has moved on since the 70s, as Kenny-boy discovered to his (and 'Pool's) huge cost.
I think you are wrong, and it's you that's living in fantasy land if you won't accept that. Calling Carroll a donkey is plain disrespectful and at odds with his actual quality.
