Amazing that. I can't remember the last decent outfield player we produced but have had a conveyor belt for goalies. I wonder if it was anything to do with the fact that until a couple of years ago Bryan Gunn was always around the place in one capacity or another. Might be just a coincidence. Back to the Academy - surely they must consider a Senior position for Hucks in any restructuring.

Some interesting posts on this thread and generally in favour of the loan.

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing what Kane can do and I'm sure he'll offer much more than Chris Martin - he certainly couldn't offer less. I know a few posters have said ‘a Spurs loanee’, but look at Naughton’s impact last season and if Kane does even half as well, then I guess quite a few posters will be eating ‘humble pie!!!’. At least that gives us some cash left in the kitty for the January transfer window, which I'm pleased about, so PLEASE don't jump on the 'if only we'd signed Dean Ashton in the summer' bandwagon, as the major difference is that the majority of our team played together last season and there has been no major surgery!!!! Here's hoping that CM will now be going out on loan again, as I know I am not alone in feeling that he is not good enough for the Premier League. I'm sure we'll see several midfielders (maybe even defenders as well) hitting the back of the net throughout the season.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the players CH has brought in during the transfer window (the defence in particular needed shoring up!!) and that he has spent the available funds wisely, as opposed to the 'Portsmouth model' and bankrupt the club. I can't wait to see how well we play when all the squad has returned to full fitness. Does anyone know whether or not we can expect to see Jacob Butterfield playing against West Ham, as I know he's nearing full fitness???

Let’s put all this bickering behind us and those of us on here that have season tickets get fully behind the team and leave the ‘fans’ who want to moan about everything to air their views on ‘Canary Call’ or the ‘PinkUn’ message board. <ok>

The reality with our production of youngsters is, fundamentally, money.
It's no coincidence that the quality dried up along with our mid-nineties problems. The rule changes regarding the distance clubs could recruit from just made the problem even worse for us.

Only kidding Gandy lad. In fact, I'd much prefer if we signed promising youngsters instead of all these superstars on huge wages. I wake up in cold sweats at night when I think of our transfer policy right now.

Hope the boy is a revelation for you.

You got some kids eventually so who knows? Perhaps they will get a chance, on the other hand they might just get treated the same as Rob Green and get shafted! Really disappointed with what has happened with the goal keepers place :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I know you can argue that there is now some serious competition in the position but to do that to what is still effectively and England International keeper is pretty grim.

I'm not really bothered about him being an England International. Its not as big a compliment as it used to be. The only decent Keeper England have is Joe Hart! And I've no sympathy for pro footballers whatsoever. He left West Ham because he was getting a few more quid with us so loyalty ain't his forte either.

But I do have a problem with the Manager signing a Keeper on a 3 year deal worth 50k a week, realizing after two games that he's sh*t, and then buying another one for 9 Million!
He made a fu*k up and it'll waste an awful lot of cash in the long run. It irks me no end Thai but for different reasons to yours.

Clearly it does Swords as I don't think Greeno is **** but I must be honest and say I have not seen much of him in the last few seasons

Interesting to see Vaughan has scored today, against Ipswich too....

Kane is a good player but I would have kept Vaughan an let Martin out. I personally think Hughton was looking to play one up front and didn't see how Vaughan would fit in...and then we lost to Fulham....

Tell me what Ruddy has done wrong then? In my eyes he is a decent keeper and he played well for England in the Italy match.

I reckon it'll be January before all your players have introduced themselves, learnt each others names and positions, which will be a hurdle should they wish to play a team game.

I would rather have a fired up Morison than Vaughan coming on any day.

JV pure and simple needs games under his belt and the Championship is the best place for that.

Would like to see Kane and Holt pair up front just so we can gauge the potential success of that partnership.

Being serious for a moment, QPR fans might joke about it but is no laughing matter.

They have something like 10+ players come in, to add to their huge squad, it's going to create appaulling team morale, with everyone worried about their place and for each disappointing game, the fans will turn on the manager and demand a change in the team lineup, which only exacerbates the problem. Effectively an entire new XI has been brought in and that is going to massively affect the dressing room dynamic negatively.

Okay, he is a decent keeper no doubt. What I meant was that being an England keeper these days doesn't automatically mean you're top quality like it did in decades past. I mean before Ruddy and Hart, who were there? James, Green, Foster? All half decent but not top quality.

Thai, I thought Green was a good signing too but he's been truly awful in his first two games! The chap seems to be a bag of nerves.

Dave, don't worry about us mate. We'll be grand!

Well that's the first time I heard competition for places creates appalling team morale! <doh>

I'm so glad we did well today, because if not it'd be the Vaughan show 24/7

He can score as many as he likes. No concerned at this point.

I said it in another thread but this is how I see the Harry Kane signing.

Harry Kane has a better goalscoring record in the Championship than James Vaughan.

Harry Kane will be on less wages than James Vaughan.

Harry Kane has had a less injury stricken career to date than James Vaughan.

Harry Kane has more suitable attributes to play lone striker role than James Vaughan.

I like James Vaughan but I think this is a great bit of business.
