Just read this; Charles Sale - Daily Mail: Bhatia's doubts about QPR's future Talk in the QPR dressing room is that the big-spending club had to persuade their richest benefactor to stay on board this season. QPR have bought virtually an entire team during the summer, underlining the importance of continued support from vice-chairman Amit Bhatia, who looks after the 34 per cent holding owned by his steel magnate father-in-law Lakshmi Mittal, Britain's wealthiest individual. However, it is understood the Mittal family, who had an option to withdraw their backing in the close season, needed plenty of convincing from chairman Tony Fernandes to keep faith with the money-no-object QPR project. The Mittals had come close to ditching their shareholding a year earlier when they questioned whether their investment was worth it. 'We had the conversation when things got very difficult,' said Bhatia. Fernandes heads the three-strong consortium with a 66 per cent stake. Mail I know it's in the Mail, but looks like they were starting to question their support. I do find it hard to believe though.
Just read this on QPR report... Does concern me slightly although this doesn't really sound like Amit
Is this not rehashed from some time ago when doubts were supposed to have been expressed? I don't think this is as recent as the Fail is trying to make out in all honesty.
I did the same. I know it's in the Mail, so should be taken with a huge dose of salt. Their subsequent support for the new signings augurs well. However, we'll need their complete commitment for the huge investment in a new stadium though. Maybe that's why there's been a bit of delay since TF's comments a couple of months ago, or it could be it's just's taking a bit longer to sort out. Delay also on more news about the new training ground as well. Hmmmm. I'm sure that having looked at the situation and done there sums, they have re-commited. Often after looking at something very closely, re-assessed then you can come back with an even greater commitment, hope so.
That quote is from Amit when Tango and Cash were in charge, just before TF took over. What a load of c##p!
I love the way conventional wisdom says we should all diss reports if they're in the Daily Mail as if reports in any other paper are consequently more credible.
The "year earlier" bit doesn't bother me as this was goon-time, but if the Mittals were thinking of getting out when we had just succeeded in staying in the Prem, then I am a bit concerned...unless they were using it to get more influence on the board. Hmm, food for thought... Edit - just seen Ellers post and hope he's right it's all past stuff. If not, I imagine other journos will take it up
Uber; The problem with the Mail is that they always seem to look at every piece of news with a negative slant. They seem to twist every piece to their agenda. I do read every article in every paper with a pinch of salt however. It's just the Mail needs a bit larger pinch.
Its the fail, its written by a Norwich fan desperately trying to undermine his rivals because he knows his team are in trouble. Taking a 2 year old quote and trying to make out its current. Laughable.
The problem with newspapers is they always look for ‘the worst things’ as that causes interest. Just like the good/bad restaurant. If a meal is good then okay but if it’s bad the whole world knows. Amit/TF have both said in recent times that all is going well at QPR and I believe them before some newspaper that has a history of making ‘bad calls’. If things were going wrong we would all notice changes (Example Phil Beard quits). But our club is moving forward, new signings/Training ground/Stadium/branding and this can only be possible with all parties being 100% involved and committed. For me the article is utter rubbish because if I had any doubt I would be posting about my doubt. I seem to remember they did the same with Roman at Chelsea saying he was a Russian mafia man who was just using Chelsea to launder money… opps?
From Tango and Cash chapter. Ha,funny how they try and dig for dirt, the day after we spend on new players, etc. Load of crap again
if it comes from reports forum its just a rehash of doom and gloom, only my opinion but gave up on there a long time ago after wading through rivers of doom.nothing personal to its owners who no doubt put a lot of hard work into it but severe lack of daylight for me.
I think for the Mittals, they've always been in the position where they're asked to put money in but they're not in control. They weren't in control when the two Italian pricks were there and they're not in control with Fernandes here. So, essentially, they've been asked continuously to invest in faith. I wouldn't really worry about it because you can't blame them when this much money is being invested. And don't forget that they tried to buy the two Italians out before.
