As someone asked earlier but never got an answer - does anyone know what happened to the David deal. I thought that was all done and dusted and was surprised to see it hadn't happened.
The only thing I know is that Sarah Brookes said, "A deal was not done". My personal suspicion is that it was something to do with the infamous Chairman of Twente, so repeat the comment I mad at the end of the 'Papers and Transfers' thread -
Sarah Brooks said a deal couldn't be done. Strange as Twente's website officially announced he had joined Fulham. Looked like a done deal to be honest.
We can still bring in free transfers. I've been trying to get an up to date list of whose left, as it were, but as yet haven't found one. I'm sure the possibility hasn't been lost on the Club.
It's not free transfers that are allowed, it's that clubs are allowed to sign free agents. Someone who is on another clubs books can't just move on a free, he has to be unattached. Nitpicky point, but not quite the same thing.
Yeah, hence Owen will probably wind up at Stoke or similar. On that point i find the whole Owen thing odd. He clearly has big ideas about himself which a lot of other clubs don't seem to share anymore. Apparently he had a couple of offers from big European sides (so he says) but turned them down to stay in England and sign for who? Stoke? Would you really turn down a big european club regardless of where it was to turn out week in week out for a middling Premier League team?
Unless Owen has adapted his game to being a hard-working, all action creative midfielder, he can stay on the dole.
Would it be worth trying to get Hargreaves in on a free- Sidwell is not going to create much and we don't have many options. Is Donegan ready for first team? a
