Seen a tweet by Billy saying he didn't move because he wasn't settled. He wasn't even missing the north and was happily settled.
Farewell Billy Sharp by E. J. Thribb (17) So, farewell Billy Sharp You scored quite a lot Of goals In a short Space Of time
Just watched this: http://www.player.nottinghamforest....5500/page/0/name/First-Interview:-Billy-Sharp Sharp looks upset/frustrated and says "I need a few answers from Southampton" and shakes his head looking baffled.
He didn't seem that upset. Slightly puzzled, but seemed pleased about the move. Said he'd spoken to Adkins about it. NA had obviously told him that his chances at Saints were limited and the move was best. I think he's a lad that gets on with things and seems to have had a good reception from the fans. Mentioned hearing about it early in the day and signing at 9.30. You must be able to play the next day, despite a late signing, if you are on loan rather than a transfer.
He never particularly comes across as chirpy or happy in interviews, maybe he just isn't a fan of them. Seemed sad/disappointed to me when asked about us.
I'm sure he's disappointed that it didn't work out, but he knows that things happen in football. He is a good player and scored important goals, but he never seemed to quite fit. he would only ever be a substitute except in case of mass illness. Even Lambert may miss out occasionally and he's a more rounded player than Billy.
Imagine how we would feel if Billy went up with Forest and scored in any of the fixtures next season against us. Suppose it depends on whether we win those games? Unless he returns!
With the number of ex-Saints knocking around the Premiership now, I reckon we might get used to them scoring against us.
I always keep an eye on ex-Saints players...there's a lot of them about. I'm sure Billy will be fine and perhaps he'll get promoted a second time.
Good luck to Billy. Rodriguez has the skill and the brain to be more effective in the middle, so I guess Sharp wouldn't play much as third choice. Shame, as I thought he could have done well this season, but these things happen as the world goes round.
Top bloke with all he's dealt with off the field over the last year and how he has done it, an example to all and one of the few players I would pick out and show as a genuine role model to my kids. Wish him all the very very best.
I think this is a good move all round, as much as I have enjoyed Billy playing at Saints he was very rarely going to get many games for us. Firstly, I am sure we received a nice loan figure from Forest as well as a option of a permanent at the end (a profitable fee), he is going to get games there, he is playing with a lot of his mates from his previous teams plus he is back playing with O'Driscoll. Not to mention he is back up North nearer his family. Overall, great move for everyone involved. Thank You for your goals which no doubt helped us get promoted.
Good luck Billy, I wish you all the best in the future, go score a **** load of goals and prove you would`ve done a job in the Prem (probably a major part of what made you come to Saints). Its a bloody shame, He came to score goals and he did score goals. He was joint top scorer (tic) when he got loaned out. I would have liked to have seen Billy available for yesterdays Man U match, when they announced the sub of Guly for Rickie I thought to myself, Sharp would`ve been proper up for this.
