Watching the Leeds vs Reading game tonight, about halfway through I heard a chorus of that old favourite at every ground: "Wash yer mouth out son, ...etc....", and it made me think what the Leeds United crowd would finish the song off with. Unfortunately, I didnt hear the end, but there is little doubt that the traditional 'enemy' at Elland Road is Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, et.al. However, if they were to assume that any of the afore-mentioned clubs seriously considered Leeds United as a real foe nowadays it would be embarrassing and laughable anywhere else other than Elland Road. At the same time the average self embellished Leeds United fan would never lowewr themselves to imagine the likes of Hull City, Sheffield United, Barnsley, Huddersfield, Bradford, etc, etc. as any more than mosquitos buzzing around their illustrious surroundings while the lights shine more dimly than ever alongside the M621 into a major European City. So, that said, who do the Leeds United fans: "...get their father's gun" at the end of the song to "...shoot (which) scum...." Every body hates Leeds, as the song says, but who (these days) do Leeds United fans hate?

I think in that chant it's Chelsea they're shooting. Something to do with the Bates take over. I think the word "DELUDED" was invented just for them.

But, surely, they would be deluded to think that the populous at large would think enough about them to come to the decision they are deluded?

Quite a few Union players and a much larger number of Union fans would debate that.

I remember the bad days at Boothferry Park when buckets were used and we had a whip-round for the players wages.
Don't think TWS have quite got the right idea.

Following City in the bad old days was the equivalent of self flogging.

Leeds fans claiming they're not bothered about Hull city, is just taking away the goal posts ! Thats what you do when your afraid. If youv'e heard Manure fans chanting we all hate leeds ,well just shows you how many Hull people are still there! To suggest Manure fans hate leeds , is just daft. why would scandinavians even know where leeds was ? That video is pants ! UTT !

I thought they were lost in a load of empty seats, considering how they claim to have the best support etc, it looked like it could be the DW stadium.

"Wash your mouth out son and go get your father's gun and shoot the Chelsea scum" is the song. Goes back to our rivalry with them in the 70s and has been revived because it's an apt tribute to our great chairman and how much we all love him being at Leeds. And you probably have a point about more recent Man U/Chelsea fans not caring about Leeds, but they still seem to sing the chants and we have plenty of time in the future to make 'em hate us!

They've not been our rivals for sustained amounts of time. Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool have. Sorry if that's the reality.

Not sure what you're on about. I don't know any Leeds fans who are bothered by Hull, you have no history of being a bogey team or being our rivals. You admit that Man U sing that they hate Leeds, but then say they don't? What? As for Scandinavians, which is a pretty random thing to say at the best of times, we're one of the best supported English teams in Scandinavia. But yeah no-one cares about us.

Overall, it was a pretty disappointing attendance but 24,564 isn't bad when you consider the circumstances of it being a Friday night when we're on the telly. Atmosphere was one of the best this season at least.
