Welcome to the Match Thread! Watford vs Derby County Football League Championship Pride Park 1st September 2012, Kick-off 3pm. Early team news: Watford It's very hard to predict a Watford lineup nowadays, and we haven't heard much since the defeat to Bradford in the League Cup. But with a two week break coming up, I think it's safe to predict that we will revert to a 4-3-3 formation, and do some tactical work in training over the coming weeks. I fancy the versatile Cassetti to make his debut, and I've pencilled him in to come on as a late sub at right back, but what position he will actually play is anyone's guess. We haven't heard any news about One Size or Geijo, so I presume they're still not fit. No news on Eustace's injury either, but it's harder to tell which way that's going to go. The potential signings of Jean-Alain Fanchone, Cristian Battocchio and Gabriele Angella haven't gone through as of Friday morning, so I'd be surprised to see any of them play. With Thompson out on loan and Hodson about to go on international duty, perhaps there will be a place on the bench for young Tommie Hoban. Predicted lineup: Almunia Doyley (Cassetti 75) Taylor Nosworthy Pudil Hogg Abdi Yeates Murray Iwelumo (Beleck 65) Vydra (Mujangi Bia 65) More to follow (hopefully)...
There is now news on the current injury situation on the official site. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/120831-injury-news-343740.aspx There has been speculation here about Prince. This confirms that he is on the treatment list.
I am happy I do not write the threads now I would not keep up to speed with all the players arriving. Away win for me 1:2.
You're right there Ak. When I did the 606 match threads in 2009 I did them properly for both teams. Now, just trying to figure out how Watford will play is a full time job.
i remember it being easy last season, but i can't remember any more than that...not very helpful, am i!
I have no idea about anything lol. I'm going with 1-3 obviously, and i'm hoping we play well. Can't say more than that..except that i'm gutted not to be going, but with the Bat Mitzvah next week, i suppose i should really be in synagogue tomorrow morning lol. Gotta be done, but i shall be glued to Hornet player tomorrow afternoon
Derby haven't started well whereas we've been a bit chalk and cheese. 2-3 to the Hornets !! COYH, time to start finding some solid form.

In the last day or so we've signed the entire population of Luxembourg. That's my excuse if my team prediction is anything less than perfect.
For some reason I always get a bad feeling when we're due to play Derby. In my mind they're a bogey team. Now, there's probably no basis for this. I'm terrible at remembering previous seasons' results unless I actually attended a memorable game- which I obviously haven't for several seasons. So- is there any basis for this gut feeling? I could go back through the stats, but would rather ask you lot.
Well one example is last season's smash & grab they carried out on us at The Vic - winning 1-0 after being outplayed for 99.99% of the match. And they did rather spoil our promotion party in 1982 by unexpectedly beating us at their place in the final match of the season - ever since that result, I've felt a bit of trepidation whenever we play them.
