Let's not forget this is Tiote's first Premier League season , Lucas has been in it for a while and had 1 absolute shocker of a season. Tiote in his first season has been a ****ing sensation.

    This thread is a joke.

We all know Carrick isn't worth £18 million,He wasn't worth the £2.75 million Spurs paid for him either.

The only joke is your ability to debate rather than jump out with outlandish statements.

Even I can recognise that Tiote is a good player, but the point of a debate is to reason with the other party not just blindly shout your support for a singular party.

Lucas has a better all round play, and holds the shape of the midfield well. He had a shocker of a season because originally he was being asked to play a defensive midfield position when he was an attacking mid.

Tiote has adapted well; probably because he joined at the best age and was physically strong enough to cope straight away. Whereas Lucas came to us as a scrawny 21 year old from a far inferior (physically) league.

I feel Lucas is simply better because he has the ability to adapt to the teams he's playing and most importantly he has the potential to do even better and progress even more. A fool can tell you how much Lucas has come on recently, and I don't see his learning curve from leveling off any time soon. Tiote is good, but I don't see him improving very much.

Same thing with Tiote. He's still young. He's about the same age as Lucas if I'm correct. I understand your point about Lucas having better ''all-round play'' though. Look mate here's something for you to enjoy.. cream all over Lucas NOW :

I disagree. So basically your first 3 lines are a little bit dramatic so I'll start with the rest.

Tiote is the heart of our team and his passes and retaining of the ball have been of extreme use for us this season. He can pass , tackle , and score. For me he's an all round midfielder. His passing success percentage has been remarkable for a player that has just come from a inferior league (Eredivisie).

Whilst Lucas can pass and on the rare occasion score , his tackling ability is nowhere near as good as Tiote's. Tiote has proven with his excellent balance and strength that he can win the ball , hold it up and pass it to another team mate. I would see Lucas more as a midfielder who can pass but who's tackling disappoint at times.

Lucas may have adapted well but you seem to ignore the fact that it didn't take Tiote 3 years to start playing to the maximum. On his debut at Goodison park he had a passing succession of 100% and won his fair share of tackles as well. So we got him when he was 24 and you got him at 21? You can't really use that as a valid excuse. I'm convinced that had we bought Tiote 2 or 3 years ago he would have the same effect on the team.

And how can you say you can't see Tiote improving much? I bet you've only seen a handful of games of him and are forgetting this is his first season in the Premier League. How you can say he can't improve is beyond belief. I have rarely seen foreign midfielders coming to the Premier League and looking so confident and assured at the first attempt.

I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree but I have a feeling this conversation would have been different had you not been a Liverpool supporter.

Note how Lucas is blown backwards by the sheer force of being in Tiote's near vicinity

I'm sure that after the Man U game comments by someone on the panel said Tiote was good enough to play for Man U, I cant see them saying that about Lucas. I think Lucas is a much improved player, but goes missing in quite a few games. I think he can be an excellent player if he becomes more consistant. Not as good as Tiote though ;)

Tiote beats Lucas hands down, and would (maybe will) destroy him

Then again you are only concentrating on these two aspects.

No mention of pass completion and successful tackles?

I don't know about you , but we don't rely on our DM to assist goals and score them. We have our wingers to do that.

Actually I was countering the point that a Liverpool fan on another forum made about Lucas, that he should add more assists and goals to his game like Tiote.

I understand if you critcised Lucas for sometimes dallying on the ball for too long, or lacking aggression in some situations, or giving away cheap fouls, but to use something that's not even remotely true against him is ridiculous and even bordering on insane.

And yes, as you quite rightly say, no club relies on it's DM to assist goals or score, otherwise he wouldn't be a DM, but you're just agreeing with me there, so I don't see what your point is, considering it wasn't me that narrowed it down to two aspects of game play, it was a NEWCASTLE fan who suggested that it was proof that Tiote was better as on a Liverpool fan's forum someone had said Lucas needed to add more assists and goals to his game like Tiote, which is just not true.

You can compare Lucas & Tiote and waste your time, but the fact is the gap in talent isn't that big between the two, and Lucas isn't considered in our top 7 players, while Tiote is virtually your star man, something to think about there for ya.

    And breathe.

I wasn't having a go at you. Was just letting you know that we don't rely on our DM to score and assist.

And you also seem to think your team is that much better than ours by saying that Tiote stands out as the rest of the players are ****.

Bar Gerrard and Suarez , I wouldn't have anyone from your team.
