for wanting to stay at his home town club and compete with his own son for a place in the squad. Seems he's the only man in hull who thinks this is a bad thing for Hull City. Lets have a little poll...... who should be in the squad? Liam OR Alex? bit of an edit: between the two, who should have got the 2 year contract?
Where's he publically criticised him? If Cooper isn't part of his plans it'll be hard for him to get a match with City. Bruce Jnr is unfortunately above him in the pecking order. That's football- so is life. I think he did well with Chester at the back end of last season though.
He clearly doesn't think Liam has a future this season. My guess is that he will never probably feature for us again after turning down a loan deal to sit in the reserves. Sold first chance would be my guess.
It's not really the issue with Cooper though is it? He's at a point where he needs to be playing regularly to develop. He's not going to dislodge our starting players so he should be looking to go out and loan somewhere he will start. Competing with other players for a place on our bench rather than in the stands is not what he needs, and it's not what's best for the club when we have the players in the squad to let him go somewhere and play. If we'd only signed Faye and not Bruce then we'd need to keep him and the best thing would be to give him 20-30 minutes here and there but that's not the case. Pompey for a month would be a farce though, he needs to be somewhere he can settle in and have some consistency.
i'll start the poll off then! Liam Cooper is 10 times better than ****ing Alex Bruce. So my vote is for Liam.
Unless he develops a rapid ageing disease he won't be a free transfer next summer. As he's been on a pro contract he's going to go through the old style tribunal system, and we're not likely to get ripped off through that compared to a normal transfer as we'd struggle to get a big fee for him anyway.

his contract is up in july. what the **** are you talking about tribunals and ageing disease for. just type a name. Liam or Alex? for the good of Hull City.
In order to qualify for a Bosman you need to be 24. As Cooper is currently 21 when his contract expires in a year he won't qualify for a Bosman. If you don't qualify for a Bosman then the only was to get a free transfer is for your club to choose to release you. All the club has to do is offer him a new contract on his existing terms and whether Cooper likes it or not he can's leave on a free. He can leave, but the fee would be decided by a tribunal. And to humour you with your poll, given what our current squad is, Alex should be the one in the squad and Liam should be loaned out.
liam's contract has been given to alex bruce. he won't be offered a new contract thus he will walk on a free. open your eyes. steve bruce has sorted his lad out before someone who is better than him.
Or Bruce wants Cooper to go out and get some experience so that next summer when McShane and Faye both leave we're left with Hobbs and Bruce as the taller centre back with Cooper and Chester as the options for the other one, but because Cooper has rejected being loaned out it means he's not going to be confident that he's ready.
I'd rather have Cooper in the squad than Alex Bruce but as he won't, I'd rather him go out on loan, and Ricardo is correct with the contract terms.
Personally don't think Cooper is any better than Sonny Bradley who is currently out on his second season's worth of Loan earning vital match experience and gathering rave reviews from the fans and management at Aldershot. Cooper Has been around the city squad for 4-5 seasons now and only made 10 appearances and had 2 unsuccessful loan spells with Huddersfield and Carlisle both of which where cut short due to injury, suspension or the player refusing to stay at the club. Rejecting Pompy may have been a mistake as he would have featured in possibly 5 matches at league 1 level and maybe had the deal extended until the new year. Can't see Cooper getting into our team this season with Chester, Faye, Hobbs, Bruce and McShane all ahead of him so for him to turn the move down is foolish on his part. When Bruce looks at his young players to decide who to keep does he keep the ones who go out and gain experience or the ones who are too stubborn to go out and try to develop? If his contract is up next year he will probably get released if he isn't gone before then. As for the question Bruce or Cooper it would be Bruce all day as he is more experienced, better on the ball from what I have seen of him and doesn't seem to mind not being first choice.
