Ho-ho, CBK, you haven't a clue about me. I research my involvement rather well. If I buy into something I know bloody well what I'm getting involved with. Your pithy comments that I have probably bought into products that Murdoch has been involved with is destined for a big fat zero. Once I've decided, I avoid completely. Don't mistake that I may live my life by your values.
Another gold medal though I'm sure sitting volleyball will get an airing not least because the lady from 7/7 is in the team. That's already had some news coverage.
They'd better do. Also there was a bit on John Snow's Paralypmic Show about the Rwandan volleyball team and how it's bringing together Tutsi and Hutu Rwandans who were enemies during the civil war and Rwandan genocide, and I think it is fantastic that the Paralympics is able to bring them together like that in the spirit of reconciliation so I wanted to support them. Plus, I wanted to support the Ukrainian rowing team as I met them (true story!).
Gold for: Richard Whitehead (new world record) Athletics: T42 Men’s 200metres ParalympicsGB running medal total: 22 6 Gold; 11 Silver; 5 Bronze
Poor USA are being hammered in the football. Maybe I should break out my USA flag I randomly bought at the Olympics.
If anyone didn't see Richard Whitehead win the 200m double amputee final then make sure you do. Amazing, inspiring scenes. Richard Whitehead is a marathon runner but they don't do the marathon at the Paralympics so he raced the 200m instead and only went and broke the world record after being practically last place coming onto the straight from the bend...anyway WATCH THIS! That has to be the most amazing race I have ever seen. It's like Mo Farrah deciding to run the 100 mtr, and beating Usain Bolt by 10 mtres!! Truly amazing.
Gort's visor is still shut, so I think you're cool Choccy. If it opens, it's beam me up Choccy! I thought that up while I was still typing the first bit.
36 medals after three days and it will get better yet! We should move into second place after today's events. Great stuff from Paralympics GB!
Will Bayley was in the Table Tennis final yesterday but lost 3 sets to 1 to a dude from Germany. He was clearly devastated but it was so nice to see the German guy came over and gave him a hug and some words of consolation. Also, what does everyone make over the debate regarding Oscar Pistorius and his argument that his Brazilian opponent had prosthetic legs which were too long?
Another great day yesterday and we sit proudly second in the medal table. Expect another medal haul today.
Wonderful run..can't believe he is a distance runner. He also had a very awkward style and yet raced to success.
I know I've harped on about this a lot, but Channel 4's coverage is awful. They didn't show any live coverage of the Women's Archery Compound final despite it being between two British archers (therefore a certain gold for GB) which as an archer myself makes me serious pissed off nor the Boccia where we were going for Bronze. Seriously, what is the point in having several additional channels when one of them shows exactly the same events as what's being shown on Channel 4?
Hi Lapras I'm amazed they didn't show any of the Archery live. If it helps there have been complaints made to Channel 4 at official levels. Too late though I fear!
Alex Zanardi just won gold in the handcycling. He's a former F1 driver from Italy who almost died in a crash where he lost both his legs. Since then he's got back into racing and done a whole manner of things. Well worth reading about him.
