The thing that annoys me is that even smaller teams like QPR, Southampton and Swansea all made decent signings today. Spurs had a good day too. We could be in for a real battle for 3rd this season.

Tired of you hijacking every discussion.

Welcome to my ignore list, you have the honor of being the first one since HotHead. It would be best if you ****ed off to their forum though, I'm sure you'd fare well at that club bashing circle-jerk.

Don't see any signings for those teams bar Dempsey that could have a chance at the XI

Not long. But at least he is on a long term contract, so at least we will get a huge transfer fee. In fact, I think most of our important players are now on long terms contracts. (I do not see Walcott as important)

Shambles of a midfield? Worried we have to rely on such a weak midfield for the season?

With a fully fit squad we will have a midfield 3 of:

    -----Wilshere----Arteta----
    -----------Cazorla-------

With Diaby, Ramsey, Rosicky as our first 3 back-up's and Coq, Frimpong, oxocube also able to play in the middle of the park.

Thats a fantastic starting midfield - strongest in the league as far as i can see.

Currently we have Diaby playing in Wilsheres place and despite people forgetting how good Diaby is due to how long he has been in recovery from injuries, he is a great player. In his last full season for us he was immense. He still gets called up to start for France every time he is fit despite not having regular playing time or fitness at the club. I have every faith that if he can shrug off his injury problems like RVP then he will perform well for us and be a very useful member of the squad.

Rosicky showed at the end of last season why he is still at the club and clearly has a role to play.

Ramsey needs time and a little faith from the fans - he was thrown in at the deep end last season and given the burden of creativity previously shared by Fabregas, Nasri and Wilshere. It wasn't fair to expect miracles from him and i think everyone was thinking he would make the step up to first team as easily as Wilshere did. In my opinion he did very well last season considering the circumstances. He had a good olympic tournament and now that he will have to fight to get into the first team i fully expect him to improve.

We have a very strong midfield with some very talented players. We are full of creativity and passing talent. We will not feel any loss of Songs assists in midfield as i believe the players we have currently are more than capable of producing the required chances for our strikers. I would have liked a physical, more defensive minded midfield player to come in, which would imo have given us the last piece of the puzzle in the middle of the park. However i think Arteta/Diaby or Wilshere/Arteta are more than capable of covering each other and sharing defensive responsibility.

Midfield is clearly not the area of the pitch we should be concerned with and i can#t believe people are worried this is our weak area.

Our defence also looks much more solid this season and i'm pretty happy with the personel there - we could maybe have done with a utility defender but it's not neccessary and provided we do not have the same injury nightmare along our back-line as last season i think we will conceed far less this time around.

I'm also happy with our strikers to be honest. I think Giroud and Podolski will come good, unlike most i rate Walcott highly, oxocube will improve this season, Gerv has alot to offer but needs to work on certain aspects of his game. I'm even confident that used properly Arshavin could still have some part to play at the club (but only if he really ****ing works at it!). Which leads me to the issue i see as most concerning: We don't have much depth up top - Rosicky can play wide and Chamakh hasn't left yet, but we seem a little thin on the front line. I'm happy with the players we currently have for these roles, but think depth could be an issue in this area.

Otherwise i'm pretty happy with the squad. We may have lost some quality but we have added quality as well. The big difference for us this season will be that we are starting properly. We are not surrounded by tons of gossip, loads of new faces etc... Last season we completely changed the way we played due to Fabregas leaving. The team was built around him and we had to adapt. The whole summer last season left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans, the manager and some of the players.

But we finished the season a united team, who pulled together and had to really work to get that 3rd place finish. I think there is much more of a team spirit, a sense of working hard for each other that hasn't been there in the last couple of seasons. I think the morale of the team, the preperation of the team and the general attitude of the team is better than it was last season when we started. And it is because of this i think we will be ok this season.

I'm also fed up of all this crap about us fighting for 4th spot. Despite finishing 3rd or 4th for the last however many years - we have been fighting for the title in all of those seasons bar last season where we capitulated at the start. The few seasons before that we where right in amongst the top of the table. Yes we may have finished those seasons in 4th or 3rd but that was after falling out of the title race - usually near the end of the season - never in much real trouble of dropping from the top 4 despite the medias attempts to convicne everyone otherwise. The season before last for example we where in with a chance at the title until the final run in of games at which point we flopped and even lost 3rd, finishing 4th, but never in any danger at all of finishing outside the top 4 - we dropped out of the title race and the season pettered out.

There was one other season where we where close to dropping out of the top 4 - but again that wasn't fighting for fourth but rather settling for it.

Last season is the only season of the last 7 that we actually fought for a top 4 spot (and ended in 3rd above Chelski/Spurs/Liverpool etc...). I mean really had to fight to keep our top 4 spot with no real hope of anything better. It's the only season we have been fighting our way up the table to just about get there in the end. Otherwise top 4 hasn't been a struggle at all and thus i fail to see how people think we have been settling for fighting for fourth. We have our worst start in god knows how long, lose our captain and creative influences, have 8 or 9 defenders out at once in the same season City's money really starts to show - and thats what people are forgetting - there were lots of reasons as to why we had a season like we did last season. This year we do not have those same problems (we still have our issues like with every club) and i think it will show - we may not win the league but the 19 point gap won't be there this time around.

And whats with the Arshavin bashing that goes on everywhere? He is anything but rubbish. How anyone can think that a player of Arshavisn quality is rubbish is beyond me. Even Henry was talking about Arshavins quality while he was at the club. He is a top quality football player and has some fantastic attributes, ofcourse he has weaknesses as well. The system we play doesn't really allow much room for defensive weakness and as such Arshavin struggles to fit in to how we currently play. If we where to play to his strengths, get rid of his defensive duties an give him an important role in the team he would shine.

You don't lose the level of quality that Arshavin has. Up until before Fabregas left everyone was calling Arshavin world class - even though he was starting to look lazy and his form was wavering - he was seen as world class, could make something of nothing and the fans of every other club rated him as well. He lost fitness, lost form, lost his place in the team and seemed to lose interest. If he was used properly in a team where his best attributes could be played to - he would be a star again.

I hate how much abuse our players get from fans.... Yes players lose form, but these guys are not poor football players and the more support they have of the fans the harder they will try.Constructive critisism is useful, calling people **** isn't.

I've said that as well, when people were going on about Chelsea's midfield. Hazard is great, but I'd take our midfield unit over theirs any day of the week. Man Utd's midfield is ****, though they rely on other aspects of their game. Spurs have lost their 2 most creative players in Modric, VDV; left to see how the new players fill the gap.

Now if Wilshere were to not get back for the second half of the season that would be bad, but in no way can anyone say that we are in a worse position in midfield. The defense looks better. Strikers will need some time, but as long as we create chances we'll have no problems getting the goals.

We are primarily in a battle to improve over ourselves, no one seriously expected us to be the most active team in the transfer market.
