I understand the loan as he is not able to get in the team and it is better he gets the chance to play somewhere. At the moment Davies is ahead of Essam in my choice however when he is back to his best I would love to see him back in the team hopefully he does well there and comes back and gets back in the team however it is now a hard choice between him and Davies.

why aren't you happy brb? We have Frampton, Flanagan, Davies and Barrett, so why not send him out to get some games?

Not too concerned as we have good cover at CB, and he does need to get some game time.

Still feel he has a great future at the club. Give it another year or 2 and it should be Conner and Callam CB partnership.

Essam purely in my opinion would get his place ahead of all of them if it was my selection but then that is probably why I would make a lousy football manager.

Everyone is saying about match fit. Why is he suddenly not match fit, was this because of his pre season injury?

My understanding of the term "match fit" is one of being up match ready rather than one of fitness, this takes in to account other things like being able to read the game at match speed, you might call it "match awareness" maybe?, as well as being able to last 90+ minutes. If you haven't played for a few months then you are slightly behind what you would be had you been playing. Best way to get these issues sorted is games. Best way to get games is out on loan. Hope that all makes sense.

Not sure what happened with Connor, was it poor off season? Due to inexperience maybe?, was the injury worse than we realised? Did he clash with mad dog? Just not Mad Dog's cup of tea? Did the change of manager effect his confidence? Did he think that he'd made it and didn't have to put the work in over ther summer because he'd got in to the first team and thought he'd made it? Who knows but hopefully he goes away, gets some good games under his belt and comes back the player we all know he can be.

    Best of luck Connor

P.S. I notice on NewsNow that BBC reported this at 13:00. Why so late for it to appear on here? Although saying that you go to the BBC page and it was updated at 22:26 so maybe the story changed?

Gemini - in response to your last question, that was when the BBC were showing a link to Lincoln City, mentioning McCammon in the article. So not quite sure what they are playing at but the story was definitely not up then.

    <ok>

brb - I agree with you ( including the lousy manager bit ) :emoticon-0100-smile

Not a bad move - whilst all the other centre backs are 'performing'. I believe that Martin Allen trusts the older, more experienced players to do the job. I haven't got a problem ( so far ) - and my 'dislike' of Frampton has been documented - but pleased that he's doing alright. I think we all understand that Martin Allen will not hesitate to recall Essam if the others 'fail'. Going to Luton should provide Essam a reasonable standard of football to keep up his sharpness.
As Gemini has replied - match "awareness" is the answer.
Last season I thought Connor was ahead of Callum - but the latter has taken his chance well. Both of them are the future of GFC & their 'extra' pace would probably be a factor when we are in L1 next season. I would expect that one of these lads to be our next big sale - after Payne !

mad dog said he isnt where he wants him to be or on par with last season, as they as form is temporary class is perminant, so he has been sent out more to just regain the form than anything else I'd have thought. Could be the best bit of business we do in terms of if we get him back at 100% of his talent then bang who you gonna partner him with!!!

    Precisely.

It appears I am slightly alone on this one with disagreeing with him going out on loan. Although I will say that I believe some people maybe going along with this blinkered on our current form, which is to be expected. It is very early days and if the form continues then Martin Allen will be everyone's genius, including mine. But until such time, at least another half a dozen games, then I will continue to question decisions that I doubt.

Seriously are we really saying a back line up of Framps, who I have no probs with and Joe Martin...well you know my views, is better than Essam.

I think we have to accept that the manager knows best. He sees players in training and knows their strengths and weaknesses. We all saw Connor perform well last season, and although I only went to the one pre season game at Dover, I didn't think Connor played that well in that game. That was only the one game but mad dog has had a chance to assess him since then and has decided that he's not up to scratch. Hopefully a spell in another team will get him to the standard that the manager wants, and he'll come back rejuvenated or he won't come back at all.

brb I agree with you in the fact that I feel that Essam should be in the team. This is still down to the fact that I still see Barrett as a pointless signing until Flanagan returns to MK Dons. However if he is to get some games under his belt with Luton and play the way he did when he was at Dartford then perhaps he will be able to play his way into the team when he returns.

I'm with brb on this one. Essam better than any of them out there today.
Let's hope he comes back in one piece and ready to take his rightful place back.

Shame Essam has had to go out on loan, as we seem to have to many centre halfs but hopefully he will come back like last season and prove he deserves to play.

He only come on as a sub at 92 minutes for Luton today, that is a bit of a waste.
