From the sound of things Levy was playing a risky game with Lyon too. We're lucky there was no one else they could sell him too. £8mill rising to £12mill is a fantastic piece of work.
No that's what I think too tbh. Looking at Dempsey's record in the PL - he's probably good for 10 goals a season, which isn't too far off VdV's contributions. I would say it's more likely that Dempsey is replacement for VdV. We still lack a solid Modric replacement.

Lloris deal is on the THFC website so that's as confirmed as confirmed could be. Interestingly the photo of him holding a shirt is clearly taken during daylight. So must have been taken way before the deal was publicly confirmed.
Dempsey may be able to replace VDV's goal tally, but I doubt he will be able to replace VDV's guile and craft. Dembele may chip in a couple of goals too. But the big problems still remain, a NEW STRIKER and a CREATIVE MIDFIELDER. Without Moutinho coming in we are going to be in serious trouble. But big UP on Lloris, now we may have a keeper that will save us a fair few more points!! Top class signing.
We've lost VDV, who was injury prone and spent about £4mill net to sign two players who can play his position and also adding another option to play out wide. It just depends how you want to see it and I'm sure there are question marks over whether VDV wanted to stay whilst his family were based abroad. Better to take the money now than have him ask to leave next season and get half that. Looks like Kane might be off though, not sure about that one bit. The window no doubt hasn't quite gone to plan but we've made about £10mill by my calculations and I think we've slimmed down the wage bill a bit. We'll need Dembele to stay fit and Ade too but elsewhere we're well equipped and if AVB thinks he can fit Defoe into our system I say we trust him, atleast until it all goes to pot and we get the knives out
I sure many of us think that. We have no midfield creative element. The first 11 will look a bigger physical , stronger side than other years at the expense of a little flair.

From the sounds of it yesterday I think we were more confident about Willian but Moutinho came up and we tried to grab the chance to sign him which meant we couldn't afford Willian. By the time wheels came off the Moutinho deal we'd lost too much negotiating time and poached Dempsey. That's my theory anyway
