It'd be awesome but we'd still have a major issue of a lack of depth. We've not replaced Alex Song, we have a crop of midfielders who are incredibly injury prone with no tough man in there now. We also only have Giroud, Podolski and Chamakh as our only striking options. Chamakh is clearly not up the standard and Podolski will mostly play wing- so another striker was also sorely needed. I know deadline day can end up being pressure to buy for buying's sake, but we genuinely needed players and have been a bit let down by not getting anyone.
Actually No. The VAST MAJORITY of Arsenal fans wanted us to sign a defensive midfielder even BEFORE Song left. Right now its just utterly ****ing ridiculous. I'm Sorry Piskie, I like the fact you're not all 'doom and gloom' but your reluctance to issue ANY critiscm is tiring. In life I am ever the optimist but 8 years of this **** is depressing for even me. Our Squad is marjonally better than Spurs's but a fairly long way behind United, Chelsea and City's. However the Club has shown they are completely and utterly happy with that. As someone who works with athletes and has competed to a fairly high level in Judo. I CANT understand or even respect that kind of attitude.
Modric and VDV along with Bale are Spurs' main creative threat, I think they will miss them badly this season.
I'd say our first eleven is stronger( i include Wilshere coming back) but i don't think our squad has really been improved. I think the club has to challenge this season or i can see problems ahead
We were all laughing at Spurs for their lack of fire-power. They've scored more goals than us and have made signings.
Not really he started 1 of our 2 games so far down the middle. In fact he spent more time down the middle than Giroud.
Count yourself lucky you're not on jayrams forum just now, I dread to think whats going on there just now, probably mass suicides as we speak. We're doomed, doomed I tell you. How about we actually wait and see how the season pans out.
If they don't, which seems likely: 21.56: It looks very much like the Joao Moutinho deal is dead. Reports in Portugal say he is staying at Porto as Tottenham's offer was below their valuation and the player himself is still ont happy with the personal terms on offer. ... then they've not improved over last season's squad.
As a new found optimist, even i can't keep it up today. I do think we needed a DM, Diaby is not the answer.
Don't get me wrong fella, I'd love to see us sign some more players, especially a DM We might still sign someone tonight ? And then everyone will be on a high . . .I just don't get too caught up in the pantomime of the last day of the window. Podolski, Giroud and especially Cazorla looks like really good signings for me. Last season, people were slating Wenger for making panic buys, this season we've done business early and people are having a tantrum over no last minute deals ?
Where has all this type around dempsey come from, a year ago most of us thot he was better at American football that real football, he works hard but come on, most people would have started a riot if we signed him a couple of years ago, now all of a sudden he is some superstar.
To be fair Wenger did make panic buys on the last day of the window last year because we left it too late which messed up the start of our season. This year he's still made a faux pas by not signing anyone to replace Song or an extra striker to fill the void left by RVP and ensure we don't have to play Chamakh.
Right, i'm going to go to the shop and miss the last 25 minutes of the window. When i return i'm sure there will be lovely news of a new signing.... And if not it's not the end of the world - the Squad are more settled than last season and we finally have our fabregas replacement!
